Thank you so much, Ms. Weiss-Wolf. I have been a feminist since age 10, but understood so much more about women's role in government as we stepped into governorships and Congress in greater numbers.
Women tend to enter politics for practical reasons, not power grabs. Oregon's first female governor, Barbara Roberts, did so in order to help her child and others with disability gain the right to equality in education. Her memoir, "Up the Capitol Steps," taught me all I know about the complexities of running a state. Today, Oregon is at the forefront in helping its citizens access special education, healthcare, and universal voting rights by mail. Thank you, Barbara Roberts, for your contributions to our well-being. Women will lead this country to a better place.
It’s a relief to throw Republicans off track with their extremist bull crap. I hope swing states in 2026 will put as many Democrats in office as they possibly can. Hopefully we can weed out some would be GOP selected SCOTUS justices. Maybe we can expand the court and implement ethics rules for these lawless jurists.
While some GOP claim to be pro-life, this only seems to apply when a woman's body is involved. The denial of health care and nutrition is at clear odds with pro-life and can be considered a form of post partum abortion. And wait a minute, the SNAP benefits for pregnant women would be pro-life? How can denying the fetus nutrition through the mother's diet be "pro-life"?
The GOP is clearly anti-female health, even when a baby is caught in the battle.

Progressive political strategist Elana Leopold, a longtime de Blasio aide and senior adviser to the Mamdani campaign, will serve as the transition’s executive director. Former First Deputy Mayor Maria Torres-Springer, former Federal Trade Commission Chair Lina Khan, United Way of New York City President Grace Bonilla, and city budget expert Melanie Hartzog will all serve as his transition co-chairs.
Very encouraging reading about the influx of women politicians. And JD Vance family member losing an election is the cherry on top.

Wonderful post. Thanks.
Rely on you to refocus us on the importance of advancing a bold "pro feminist, pro-democracy agenda".
With ya there, sistah!

Ain't it great to have hope again? It's tough to just read the tea leaves from your living room. State and national consensus really helps.

The winds of change include Vote #218 for the Discharge Petition on the Epstein files. Storm clouds are forming. Can’t come soon enough.
