The DOJ and FBI relied on the SPLC’s informant program during Trump’s first term. Now they—and the House Judiciary Committee—are prosecuting and vilifying the SPLC for the same critical program.
Just as anytime Trump opens his mouth is a lie, anything Jim Jordan is involved in is a farce by definition. Lucky for him he was blessed, by god, with subnormal intelligence, self awareness and self-respect. A normal human being would have been overcome by crushing embarrassment by now. But dull-witted Jim carries on like a squirrel hiding the same nut over and over and over again.
I've been contributing monthly for years. Their newsletter and other reports are great. The DoJ's legal attack on the SPLC is vindictive -- and beyond sloppily done.
Anything Jim Jordon is involved in is always meritless. He is a fetid, groveling, and entirely useless member of Congress. He does nothing for his state and has made his alliances with our convicted felon in chief, with a commitment that we have not seen since Hitler was in power. His willful blindness towards our constitution and our laws point to arrogance and the inability to comprehend right from wrong. I could go on but what would be the point.
Why would Jordan, who shielded a pedophile sex abuser during his college coaching career. do the right thing as chairman of the house judicial committee? Think about that. Also think about the intelligence of Ohio voters. It's all incredible!
What I observe is that any committee hearing lead by Jim Jordan almost immediately turns into a clown show. Needless to say, the HJC meeting quickly turned to farce. It's too bad that Shakespeare is no longer around to satirize this fiasco. Fortunately, we have Alexandra Petri, Stephen Colbert (for one more night) and Jimmy Kimmel to do the job. I'm sure they will have a field day!
The HJC, like its leader the orange narcissist-felon, is again doing precisely what it accuses others of doing, endlessly: manufacturing, inciting, arming and magnifying hate and revenge. They attack and denigrate anything or anyone who is not white: black, brown, yellow, immigrants, citizens. They go after anyone who might have objected to the appalling behavior of the regime--any convenient target, any pretext, engaging in financially debilitating lawfare the accused must expend to defend themselves. All with the sheen of righteous indignation, particularly the nefarious head of the HJC.
Meanwhile, via the obscene $1.8B slush fund, they intend to reward known, convicted criminals, with accountability made opaque, while apparently arranging for themselves to be pardoned if possible, and to insulate themselves from future accountability or the rule of law.
This was a fine accounting of direction and activities of the SPLC over time. It would appear that what served Trump and ilk in the first administration no longer suits them, even though their programs and policies have not changed. Considering the leadership of the House Judicialry Committee (Jordan), the corrupt department of justice, and the mentally challenged president himself, nothing is surprising any more. It is, however, totally unacceptable.
When a police department uses an undercover officer to gather information on a particular group, he’s still a police officer, and he is still paid as a police officer. He is putting his life at risk if he is identified by that group as an undercover officer. They will most definitely kill him. It takes an exceptionally brave officer to go undercover. He has to be intelligent to gain the trust of the criminal operation. Sometimes he has to remain undercover for months or even a year or more to reach a level that enables him to get reliable information from the top of the organization. The SPLC does not identify itself police or law enforcement; it gathers information that enables law enforcement to take down these dangerous groups.
Thomas Jefferson recognized that there would be times when the tree of liberty would need to be defended by the blood of patriots and traitors like -- and not by mere words. IS THIS NOT CUCH A TIME, AMERICA ?
Thomas Jefferson recognized the need -- from time to time -- to nourish the tree of liberty with the blood of patriots and traitors alike. IS THIS NOT SUCH A TIME, AMERICA ?
Why are all the comment board turned off??? I have two comments not involving this disgusting guy from Ohio:
1. On the "Coffee" with Simon Rosenthal, whom I like more and more, I'd like to say not only do the state AGs need to step up, but why haven't I read about any noise making on the Democrat's side (leadership or not) concerning the orange dumpster slush fund???? I am sick to death of the supposed leaders not even emitting a beep on anything.
2. On Jennifer Weiss-Wolf's article on the abortion pill. It is obvious this subject needs to be blasted on until the election, because it frightens the shit our of the fascists. Why else would ALITO, of all the fascists on the formerly supreme court, stay the Louisiana court's decision to stop the abortion pill from being distributed? A formerly supreme court who voted totally against all abortions? That, more than anything else, shows how afraid the fascists are of this subject playing a role in the midterm elections.
He kind of had to do it. The SCOTUS ruled last term that Federal court judges were not authorized to issue nationwide injunctions. THAT was what Alito shot down ... for now. He will show his true colors when the case comes before the court.
You are absolutely right, of course. Just like I have no doubt they will approve the slush fund when it gets to them. But they are not political, ha, my butt.
Thanks for staying with this case, Norm. It really is important to all of us, not just the South, if for no other reason than the SPLC’s annual tracking of hate groups in the US. I have been following them since they hit the ground.

May I quote you, sir ?
This needs to be proliferated!
Whenever I’ve seen a reference on Substack to the fake DOJ investigation of the SPLC, I send the SPLC ten bucks. So far it totals $100.
You can give monthly and it’s a deductible contribution at tax time. You’d be supporting a wonderful organization!
Watch out! You're likely to go broke.

Andy Borowitz might even chip in a paragraph or two.
This is the most ridiculous bullsh** I have ever heard of. The gitcha gotcha games don’t work anymore.
In this case, it appears that they work all too well.

Thank goodness we have lawyers like you Norm to fight these miscreants. It's stunning how Trump et al twist the facts into hateful action.

Speaking of weaponized DOIJ...Give the SPLC about 40% of the orange slashing fund.
