This corrupt, illegitimate SCOTUS didn't need to explicitly instruct southern states to disenfranchise black voters. Roberts and his racist brethren on the court knew exactly what this ruling would do and they are fine with it. In fact, this is precisely the outcome they hoped for. The states correctly understood the ruling as a permission slip to reinstate Jim Crow. This is the most disgraceful SCOTUS in US history.

Of course they knew. That's why they didn't wait the 30 days, which normally occurs, to make the decision final. That's why they removed the hold on AL redistricting. In both these cases they didn't add, States could not make district changes because we're too close to an election, as they did in 2022 in the AL redistricting case.

Jim Crow Roberts instigated the permissions! He and his FedSoc & Heritage Foundation colleagues are white nationalists.

The colleagues may even be racist white nationalists.

Why ask for an explanation?

“If one of you, dear readers, can explain if there is a significant difference between what Taney’s court decided in Dred Scott and what Roberts’s court decided in Callais, it would be much appreciated, because from here they fundamentally seem the same.”

This is about denying political rights to people with black and brown skin because they are different. The difference is not just about skin color. It is about history, experience and culture. This is about fear of that difference and yes, hatred, because the difference challenges our sense of our own humanity as white people. And we can’t have that, can we? White people in power are wrapping themselves in the cloak of Christianity to assure themselves of their goodness. But it is just a cloak.

To ask for an explanation is to ask for the use of reason. This is not about reason. It is about simple, ugly racism that will justify itself in whatever way and through whatever means it can. John Robert has earned John Crow Era. May it stick to him forever.

There is an old and deplorable cry that "the South shall rise again."

The Roberts court, (far from supreme except in title) ignored stare decisis in their destruction of the Voting Rights Act, and are pushing to make it so. They did it before for the Roe vs. Wade decision. Established law means nothing to the majority of this court.

This is a beautiful piece.

Eloquent, and tragic beyond your well-chosen words. Thank you for voicing what so many of us are feeling in the wake of this brutal court decission.

What a disgrace. 2026. The SCOTUS SIX. How do they look at themselves in the mirror? how do they look at their children and grandchildren? how do they walk down the street?

There is seemingly no end to the disgusting White Supremacy too present in this country of ours. 2026.We still haven't learned how to love our neighbors and care for the oppressed.

I am deeply ashamed of these SCOTUS SIX fools. And deeply ashamed of my country's present government.

This SCOTUS decision enabling the disenfranchisement of Black voters will not end there. It will enable all sorts of discriminatory practices.

Look at how the Louisiana Secretary of State describes candidates - then say there is no racism https://voterportal.sos.la.gov/candidateinquiry
