April, you have been a thorn in Trump's butt for a long time and he desperately wanted you to go away because you are an intrepid journalist, not afraid of speaking truth to power. In other words, an enemy, a threat in his pathetic tiny mind. You are still here and America, Americans are the better for it. If there was an Olympics for Journalists, I have no doubt you would be on top of your game and medal prepared. Take good care. America depends on your courage.

Cindy thank you for your kind words

So welcome and so deserved.

Been thinking for a while on this. Substack is the democratization of news, gives us access to truth through journalism and opens doors legacy media could not or would not.

Consider unnecessary tariffs as the one-two punch to the rising cost of everything else: energy, insurance, healthcare, food, rent. How are we supposed to survive, O billionaires? Will you pay our bills so we can pay the tariffs on what we buy from you?

Many of us have noticed that they are willing to throw money at people in their own economic class, but there is usually a quid pro quo attached. As we have no "quo" to offer them, they show no interest in sharing.

Isn't it nuts how they have everything they want and actively want to deny us the basics? I have a very modest life, but I feel the means slipping away. How about Jeff Bezos firing scores of journalists and Amazon employees after renting Venice for his wedding? He is astronomically wealthy, and it came in just a couple of decades. I remember when he was selling books out of the trunk of his fckng car. Now it's screw the little people; I've got mine.

Jeff Bezos is a nasty piece of work, and that's being more kindly than he deserves.

Who sends pictures of their dick to people? You'd think he'd have some manners, but no.

So what will now be done about the 15% "spite tariff" with which the fool countered the supreme court decision?

Trump is not going to convince people tomorrow night who are on fixed incomes, people who are stretching the family dollar to the limit, and people who are making decisions about what purchases can be put off - or at least he should not be able.

It's both disheartening and frightening for a superpower nation to be led by a temper tantrum child who, like the stunted kingpin of North Korea, cannot bear any answer except "Yes".

In early December 2025, I bought a brand new Honda HR-V. According to the sticker, the vehicle was put together in the US, with parts that apparently crossed the borders many times between the US and Canada, as well as the US and Mexico.

So, I don't think it is wrong for me to assume that the purchase price included import taxes at least in the high three-figure or, more likely in the four-figure range (or as the orange dumpster calls them tariffs). How do I get that money back? Do I contact Honda, do I sue on my own or through consumer groups?

IF there is any tariff rebate it would be made to the importer (Honda US entity). I truly doubt you will see any of it. And, if there is a class action suit against Honda for rebate, you will receive a pittance. However, the class action attorney will do well. Arkansas Blue, I am not an attorney, but that is my realistic view of it. Sorry!

Sad to say, you will likely finish up making that part of the sale price a "contribution" to the federal government. Contribution is generally considered an option. In your (and other cases) there wasn't even an offer of bargaining, hence I put it in quotes.

Dawn and Steve 218: Yep, sounds like you both are correct from everything I've read so far.

Another orange dumpster screw, without getting any enjoyment out of it.

At least you do have the enjoyment of having a fine little automobile that will give many years of trouble free and pretty economical performance. They're also right easy to park in the ever-shrinking parking spaces. That should soften the blow - at least a little.

Everything you say is so true. I had a CR-V before, which handled really well, but I had a hard time with the back being high. This HR-V handles even better and I feel I have better control seeing the back. Also more cameras everywhere.

Two weeks ago or so we had about 4 inches of snow in Little Rock. I had such fun driving! It handles especially well in snow. And you are so right about the parking.

I agree that food prices are more expensive especially if you have to adhere to dietary restrictions like I have to do. Gluten free foods are more expensive than the regular versions. Also with gluten free foods there’s much less in the package than regular versions.
