Yes yes yes and yes.. It's too easy a target for the know nothing destroyers. As someone who grew up near DC and visited the Smithsonian with elementary school classes no less I have a deep and longstanding reverence for it as an American (yes! we still exist!) institution. HANDS and mitts off our Smithsonian! It's ours to value and keep. not yours to corrupt and destroy! Off with their heads! Not ours (kudos to Jesus Carroll and the Red Queen again )
Proselytizing wannabe “Christian” nationalist myths as truthful history degrades even further the American education system. The so-called government leaders, as an example, are an embarrassment abroad even if not acknowledged by the government media. The Speaker of the House, (a constitutional lawyer, really? Moses Mike?) needs to resign for failing to faithfully live up to his Oath of Office and for practicing being a brainwashed minion.
In general, the ignorance or flagrant disregard of protocols, history, cultures, science, humanity, economics, ecosystems, geography and so on is starkly apparent. Add also promulgation of disinformation and misinformation without the skills to discern the facts or check or evaluate reliable sources.
So is it the desire to create a kingdom of uneducated feudal servile serfs to be plundered by the morally depraved, hungry ghosts of oligarchy that crave power, wealth, adulation, as well as a pool of free labor that motivates this ‘crapification’ of history? And to further ‘educate’ the serfs to obey blindly because they will sell their souls to be saved(?) via the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, Conquest, War, Famine, and Death? Was this God of their souls supposed to be so manipulated by mankind?

While there is no shortage [or end] of what is wrong with our current government, the continuous assault on democracy is my main concern.
Fortunately there is a museum that tells the whole story of the Revolutionary War period: the Museum of the American Revolution in Philadelphia. It's privately-owned and independent from government control, so it's not subject to what is happening to some of our national parks and, if the administration had their way, the Smithsonian museums. The Museum is full of artifacts and documents and letters from the 18th century, and is running a special exhibit until January about the worldwide influence of our Declaration of Independence entitled "The Declaration's Journey" which I like so much that I've made the trip from Boston to see it twice. (FYI, I have nothing to do with the Museum other than being a member.) I highly recommend a visit!

Soon after Trump took office I watched Lonnie Bunch on Finding Your Roots. Like many episodes it was inspiring, but all I could think of was how quickly Trump would attack Bunch and the Smithsonian. I am glad that Dr Bunch is still there and hope the Smithsonian can successfully fight off the Trump fairytale of American history.
