Calling Trump any kind of reader is giving him too much credit. His daily national security briefing reportedly has to be distilled down to a single page, and the odds that he reads that entire page are probably less than the odds that his tariffs will bring back manufacturing jobs to the U.S.

We should rebrand the GOP’s “Working Families Tax Cut” as the “Working Families Tax Increase”, which it is. Before Republicans passed the tax bill (OBBBA), they had received the Congressional Budget Office’s analysis of the bill, which showed the following: “The report details that while the richest Americans' incomes will likely rise from tax cuts, the poorest will face falling incomes from cuts to social programs like Medicaid and food aid, resulting in an estimated 1.8 million people losing health insurance coverage by 2034.”
The CBO report also included a graph which made crystal clear that 40% of households would end up with less disposable income as a result of the GOP tax cut. Even Trump couldn’t have missed that picture.
