Alito and Thomas appear to be so deeply into the purity of their infallibility and methodology and are so blinded by their biases, they will never be able to see or comprehend the increasing absurdity and cruelty of their positions

Great interview. Dr. Franks is not just very knowledgeable, but she is very eloquent and has a great voice. I was able to understand the entire interview without close captioning, which seems to be on the fritz ever since it spoke Spanish or Portuguese or whatever, only.

I withhold any comment on the two toadies, at least one of whom has been in the pocket of billionaire Harlan Crow, the "close personal friend" since well AFTER CT made it on the "supreme" court.

Those two justices are blatantly corrupt.

I understand your point, and it's a legitimate one. I guess when I think of "corruption," I think of something more direct: someone paying off a judge to issue a specific decision in that person's case. See, for example, the infamous Greylord scandal in Chicago's state court. But I'd be lying if I said I was fine with the way Justice Thomas has conducted himself. I'm very much not.

I have a problem with the term "corrupt." That suggests they are on the take in some way, that they are somehow engaging in criminal behavior. You may consider them immoral. You may consider their views contrary to the law. You may find their decisions unfortunate, to say the least. But what evidence is there of corruption on their part? Look, I'm not a fan either, but I have a problem hurling the term "corrupt" around indiscriminately, although that seems to be common these days. It's a serious accusation and a dangerous one.

Except, they ARE "on the take" - how else would you describe the acceptance of fabulous gifts. Especially in Harlan Crow's case, those gifts were not given out of the goodness of his heart...But that is an aside. Being morally corrupt is still corruption. Both Alito and Thomas are clearly uninterested in the Constitution and the Separation of Powers. Hell, they don't even seem to support the Rule of Law, unless it is regarding one of their self interests.

What do you call accepting gifts and not reporting them.... Or, accepting favors such as free trips, places to stay, etc. If some of these behaviors are not "corrupt", what do you consider corruption?

Good point, Ben. They might be cowards.

My biggest issue is with Leonard Leo and the dark money being funneled into the Heritage Foundation. Kerri and Roger Severino are some of his biggest donors and that’s where they find these extremist, fascists SCOTUS candidates.

Great interview. Thanks.

Dr. Franks is clear eyed and tough.

She added her voice to others who speak to the crisis at the DOJ - where good career lawyers are punished for telling the truth to the court, as in I don't have the answer to the court's question. These lawyers had chosen careers in public service, were justifiably proud of their work and now are added to the growing numbers of victims of this cruel administration and Republican Party. I am so sorry.
