The truth is Pam BONDI was, is, and will always be Trump's personal lawyer first and the American people's lawyer second. John Mitchell would be embarrassed at the naked politicization of the DOJ under BONDI & Blanche. I am chagrined that there are no senior members of the GOP willing to come out of their hidy holes and speak truth to the American people and to move expeditiously to initiate impeachment proceedings.

Thank you for this article, Jennifer. Since Bondi’s insistence that Trump’s acceptance of a $400 million gift from Qatar - to be used for his personal benefit - was not a constitutional violation - I’ve been telling anyone who’ll listen that she needs to be disbarred and prohibited from ever practicing law again. She’s an unmitigated disgrace to the bench and the office of the US Attorney General.

Don't deny that we hadn't been forewarned.

On July 26, 2024, before the upcoming Presidential election, at The Believers’ Summit hosted by Turning Point Action in West Palm Beach, Florida, then-Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump told the predominantly Christian audience that if they voted for him in the 2024 election, “you won’t have to vote anymore” in four years because, in his words, “we’ll have it fixed so good, you’re not gonna have to vote.” In that speech, he urged Christians to “get out and vote, just this time,” and said after four more years “you don’t have to vote again” because the country would supposedly be “fixed.”

So there it is! He told everyone that if they elected him he was going to use every governmental power to weaponize the U.S. Government to crush his political opponents and make voting an irrelevant exercise of futility after he gets finished with destroying the opposition.

It is therefore a matter of political life or death for the Democrats to take at least one House of Congress in the upcoming Congressional elections. Our failure to do so will enable Trump and his accomplices to secure their monopoly of power for generations to come.

There's so much truth in your post, LD. Time and time again the flailing lunatic has loudly blown the dog whistle about his plans to be a dictator "on day one," to turn the Department of Injustice, DHS and FBI into his personal instruments of revenge, to renew his harassment of those who certified that the 2020 presidential election was won by Joe Biden (see the seizure of Fulton County voting records last week) and to make war on the free press among other atrocities and lies too numerous to list here.

The response of the people of MSP to the vicious attacks and murders carried out by ICE goons reminds us what true bravery looks like. In spite of arctic temperatures, they continue to show up in large numbers. If the Nobel Peace Prize could be given to a group of people, they would richly deserve it (unlike the looney tunes dangerous clown in the WH).

Clinical psychologist and estranged niece, Mary L. Trump, frequently states that her uncle simply cannot handle failure and that his fear of being labeled a loser drives his actions and behavior.

Assuming that the MAGAts don't somehow rig the 2026 midterms (as we all know, they sure as hell are diligently working on that project) and the Dems resurrect the constitutional role of the legislative branch of government to be a check on the executive, perhaps America will begin to awaken from this experiment in tyranny and oppression. The survival of a nation depends on it.

One act of volunteerism that could help forestall the trump/bondi/miller putsch is to get involved in the elections process—become a “poll worker.” You will understand how the system works, be part of it and can explain to the unbelievers that the electoral process works, it’s safe and the republican bastards better leave it alone. It’s not literally a volunteer job—you get paid. It’s a great way to meet your neighbors on a neutral ground while doing a civic duty. It’s fun. It’s easy. And it’s patriotic in the first degree.

True, but Republicans did not need Democratic votes to do so. Democrats would have been called "obstructive" by corporate media had they opposed every single nominee, and there was wishful thinking that by opposing only some of the nominees, the worst could be excluded. However, even the less high profile unqualified have shown depths of which we did not know they were capable.

Sadly, that corporate media takes the Republican propaganda that twists everything Democrats do, while giving the Republicans a free pass. I think that the rise of independent media voices will strengthen Democrats' courage of their convictions.

I notice that most of the time now its possible to read NYT articles (most of them, and eventually nearly all) and even comment on them without subscribing. I wonder if they are desperate for readers? We need to show the MSM that they are no longer the best source of reporting, that seems to come from the various substacks.

Many of us get discouraged and depressed by Trump/MAGA's daily assault on American values and our constitutional government. It's appalling. Trump's premeditated War mirrors Hitler's White Nationalist Nazi party's tyranny that ironically, copied the terror tactics of the Klu Klux Clan.

Starting with tsunamis of lies and propaganda about American decline, like a coward, he attacked soft targets, intellectuals, lawyers, aid agencies and researchers who depend on government funding. Then he blamed minorities as the source of national ruin and created a secret army to terrorize the evil minorities, deport a few victims and tried to cower the resistance.

And like Hitler, he loaded his government with true believers to carry out his war with complete loyalty and supposed impunity. With our tax dollars, Vance, Miller, Hegseth, Homan, Bessent, Noem do terrible things to Americans everyday

The message from Minneapolis has been heard loud and clear all across America. Trump's game is over. His POTUS show is cancelled. His popularity continues to plunge We the People have a power MAGA can't imagine or hold in their hearts.

Beautifully stated. We Americans have become complacent with what has been achieved since the Revolution. Let's take a step back and engage actively to protect our inalienable rights. In my voting precinct a maximum of 30% ever turn out. Included are the few first time voters from countries where they had never had that privilege with tears of gratitude in their eyes. Since WWII, our shows of patriotism have decreased measurably, so lets turn out to celebrate our 250th anniversary. VOTE!

It is blatantly obvious the justice dept is protecting more powerful men in the Epstein files,not just Trump. Got to follow the money. The FBI also downplayed victims statements just like in the Larry Nasser case. What kind of investigations got done? Looks like Epstein had connections to Israeli intelligence and Russia.

Watch what is happening in Georgia with the seizing of election files. Trump is setting the stage to interfer in the midterms.

Not to mention the enormous and obvious grifting of the Trump family and hangers on.

We need good independent journalists to keep digging. There is too much at stake not to.

Jeff Bezos has ruined the Washington Post. I also canceled my subscription to the Post, right after Bezos blocked the Harris endorsement. I had been a subscriber since the 1980s. Yes - Blondi has to go, along with Barbi Noem. They should be the easy ones to pick off, though. Miller will be tougher to expunge.

The Trump Regime everyday looks more and more like life under Henry VIII: a corpulent mentally and physically aging king, love of theater, pageantry, self enrichment and public display of wealth, and a sinister dislike of those who didn’t do his bidding or who openly opposed him, sending them to the scaffold for treason. Eventually almost everyone did something that irritated the king. Certainly The Trump Regime has added nuisance, but it nets out the same: ETTD - Everything Trump Touches Dies. You ‘brave’ Trump Courtiers and Sycophantic Tech Broligarchs with your golden gifts and knee popping genuflecting your time of reckoning will come. And now he has effectively killed the Kennedy Center for The Performing Arts. By closing it, claiming it's losing money, (after his takeover, of course it is) and is in poor condition, in need of renovation. What's the matter, not enough gilt glitter thrown around the place? ETTD (Everything Trump Touches Dies) might be a good thing in this case, considering the type and quality of "entertainment" he was planning to provide from the site. After he is gone, and his name is stripped from the building, like a phoenix, it will rise from the ashes.

Whatever happens we sure the heck can't wait until the midterms to act. It is clear as day the Republican party has no intention of relinquishing power. They are attacking free and fair elections from every angle. Despite the heroic efforts of lawyers like Norm and Katie the track record of the SCOTUS is ominous. Fellow Americans better get their protest act together ASAP if there's any hope of restoring something democracy like in this country. We still need to work our butts off to get Democrats elected across the country, but that alone is not a sufficent plan.

The only way to get DJT’s attention is to remove the attention, what he craves most. How about a twelve hour period where no pictures or mention of the orange one occurs. Might be more impactful than all the protests. The prime need is to be in the center of the news cycle and his bizarre behavior puts him there regularly.
