Trump is "making fools" of everyone, not just athletes. I am more concerned about him making fools of members of the Supreme Court and Congress. And in their case the right term isn't "fools," its "useful idiots" Putin and Xi are enjoying the moment along with Trump.

Agreed. I look at the number of CEOs, foreign leaders, university presidents, and law firm senior partners who have let Trump make fools of them, and I can't help but note that those are the people who supposedly have the education and background to know better.

Important additions to the useful idiots list. Greed is their main motivation, power with a touch of greed for SCOTUS and Congress.

USA Hockey really dropped the ball allowing any association whatsoever with the Trump administration, an administration that could be easily argued as the most corrupt, abusive and misogynistic in history. This administration openly and almost gleefully craps all over American citizens, how could one lend it any legitimacy by accepting an invite to celebrate with them?

The ladies had “other commitments “, a much smarter answer!

The best move for all athletes would be not to play with Trump. He has an agenda that really doesn't benefit you, and does not play fair. Get your support, adulation, and notice from performance, the public and the fans, not his cheesy get-togethers. They are more a photo-op for him than for you.

If the Tkachuks support Trump, they are supporting a man who is enabling the destruction of their ancestral nation. Trump seems to kowtow to Putin (and also to Netanyahu) who is intent on subjugating Ukraine. The Tkachuks are descended from a Ukrainian immigrant to America (I have no idea how far back.) But know his grandfather was named John and was a policeman in Boston. Guessing great grandparents or great great grandparents.) Tkachuk is the Ukrainian last name meaning "weaver".

You can only be made a fool of by an idiot if you let the idiot make a fool out of you....................It's not brain surgery, it's a choice....................

Grotesquely illustrating that great talent in sports is not necessarily transferable to the realities of life in the rest of life is the repeated willingness of Tom Brady and Robert Craft of the New England Patriots to associate themselves with Degenerate Don, which stains all their positive contributions to civic life.

Again, it is hard to be smart when the way to get oxygen to your brain is through that tiny hole in you d*k.
