This is a crucial message for men--but it's rather too bad that it's delivered by women.

JD Vance is an embarrassment to Ohio State University and Yale University if he said that about science to quote Jen. He knows better than that and I would expect better from him. But for one who is ignorant about science I would expect it. This conversation is about authoritarian propaganda and toxic masculinity within the framework of the scientific method. In the natural sciences classes we teach students about the scientific method the same principles are also applied to the social and behavioral sciences as well. The scientific method must be taught to students in middle and high schools as well as university level students but in America that has been a weak spot for a while. If you apply the scientific method to most areas of your life trust me you won’t be snookered or at least not as much. The scientific method is what brings about critical thinking and rational thought. It’s just like Cynthia Miller Idriss was saying it’s about teaching them how to think not what to think.

Thanks so much Cynthia and Jen for this thoughtful and thought provoking interview. This is a very deep and involved subject.

Not sure I'm comfortable with the linking of science with freedom of speech. With respect to Darwinian evolution, don't the creationists misuse freedom of speech to insist that creationism be taught in the classroom alongside evolution in respect of freedom of speech/debate. There are some scientific theories that are so fundamental that they are beyond freedoms to dismiss them as legitimate exercise of freedom of speech.
