Thanks for publishing this, The Contrarian. It's so important that we not just preach to the choir. Huge numbers of Americans are fed very different realities through social media and legacy media failure, as I discuss at theystandcorrected.substack.com

Saturday is a chance to make clear why these concerns are so real and palpable. 🇺🇸🗽

The MSM shouldn't even show the parade. Unfortunately, they will to be "fair and balanced". You are absolutely right, the parade is not about the military. It's all about the Felon's continued move in making the United States an authoritarian theocracy. The six Christian Nationalists and the Speaker of the House (who in 2021 attempted a coup using fake electors) are in full support of the Felon's plan.

We won't stand for war wagons rolling into our states and neighborhoods. Everyone get out in the streets on Saturday, peacefully but in force. Everyone. This is the moment, my friends.

Come hell or high water (the latter of which is highly likely since it has rained every day a parade was planned so far here in Little Rock) I will be out there on Saturday.

Even bought a large umbrella to write on.

WARNING: that umbrella might be considered a wepon, & could get you arrested.

Arkansas Blue's avatar

😀 That could very well be the case in this now fully fascist dictatorship, where even US Senators can be manhandled, thrown to the ground by obviously racist FBI and other agents. I'll use my umbrella anyway, let them start putting white great-grandmothers in jail.

As a white 64 year old, I might be OK. It is definitely going to rain in Philly

Where are the retired officers on this? I thought that once an officer, regardless of status - active, reserve or retired - always an officer. Are they resisting publicly? Are they organized?

The U.S. president does not need to put on an ostentatious display of military equipment on parade. The cost and disruption to the infrastructure is enough reason for most rational people not to have it but we all know FF47 is not a rational human being and of course, this is about Trump not the anniversary of the military. How the media covers the parade and the protesters often depends on their ideology. We will see how they actually cover the events of the day.

We can only hope it rains ( in many ways) on this grotesque display of how evil Trump and his lackeys are.

..it's not just a parade to honor service men and women it's the ultimate scam of stolen glory from genuine soldiers by Trump...is he having a faux military ensemble slathered in ribbons and medals created for this occasion?...thanks to The Contrarian team for your incredible and brave coverage of what is happening...

I support the military but I don’t agree with a parade to show how powerful we are. What are we; North Korea or Russia. If we had voted for Harris none of this would be happening.

But America needs a lesson and Trump is it. I hope Americans are going to like the next three and half years. They asked for it.

It’s a shame that we are the problem.

Again, Hal. I don’t speak to MAGA’s. You want to live as slaves under our dictator

"If we had voted for Harris none of this would be happening."

You're right. Instead, the military would still be wasting money on DEI training and continue to suffer from under-performing recruitment totals.

Part of the problem is that TV news is constitutionally (with a lower-case c) incapable of covering a story more complicated than cat-up-a-tree or fire-at-the-warehouse (or, I suppose, plane crash in India). They're best set up to handle simple stories with lots of visuals. That's why TV dropped the ball so badly on Watergate-- it was a complicated story without good visuals.

Violating the Constitution is a complicated story without much in the way of visuals, which is one reason TV covers it like a horse race. Let's see what they do with the parade-- it's got good visuals, but I doubt TV will cover any of the complexities.

"Those who recognize the dangers of monarchical thinking need to avoid preaching to the choir..."

Not you too, Josh...shifting to the latest buzzwords - "monarchy" or "king". Is this from some focus-group data because "authoritarian/fascist/Hitler" has lost it's previous luster? Good grief.

"The military parade and protests planned for this Saturday present the media with a big opportunity to educate America."

The first thing the media needs to do is repair their tarnished reputation. That will happen when they put their biases in the trash can and report ALL of the relevant facts for any given story. I'm not holding my breath.

Wish this was available in audio! Most of the Contrarian is, but it all should be--please!??!
