"Jen was joined by Contrarian Publisher and Co-Founder Norm Eisen to represent The Contrarian as it was honored by Ms. for its uniquely dynamic and independent journalism."
Y'all are too damn modest! Way to go, Contrarians!!! (Late night, Jen? No coffee with us this morning! :)
As Jen reminded us as she rallied the crowd: “Politicians follow the lead of movements. Litigation holds back authoritarians, culture keeps our humanity alive, and independent media ties it together. All of that is how we go forward. It is not politics that will save us, it is the people.”
“Politicians follow the leads of movements” Absolutely they do and many of these movements are misguided. When they result in pathetic laws that are incompatible with reality what are we to do? Example: Prolife
What must be done to repeal bad laws that cause more harm than good? Is litigation always the answer in this case?
Protesting and making light of them makes them look like fools.
Unfortunately, not nearly enough people subscribe to independent media. I certainly feel much more knowledgeable subscribing and supporting it.
Hey, the ballot box works too! I appreciate great journalism like all our fellow Contrarians. Many states have stopped tracking pregnancy outcomes because they have abandoned transparency but I’m here to say that may be so but university hospitals are there in the background tracking this information. They know. My family of one NICU nurse one who works in L&D and one professor of nursing sees this stuff every single day at the same hospital. My former colleague works in the department of medical statistics at the University of Alabama Birmingham/UAB medical school and she’s no stranger to any of this. This information is tracked on instate patients as well as those who are out of state.
