How is it possible that only the supreme court vote is affected by this verdict? I don't care how many ballots are questionable, be it just a few thousand or 65,000, every position on the ballot would appear to be invalid. Only in a red state and only when the loser is a republicon do things like this happen!
I'm sure this will go to the US "supreme" court. It will be interesting to see how they rule.
There is inconsistency because the NC Republican Supreme and Appeals Court want desperately to steal this election. And they must be stopped by the Federal courts if all else fails.
For those of us who have lived -- existed is perhaps more accurate -- in the North Carolina that the Republicans have created since coming into power thanks to the Tea Party election, this is scarcely a surprise.
Dismaying, frustrating, infuriating, etcetera, but certainly not anything remotely like a surprise. It was just a matter of time and which election that would be the one chosen.
The North Carolina Republican Party is little more than the good ol' Dixiecrats under a new label. The bigotry, reactionary policies, corruption, and destruction of government services are all part of the deal -- despite about half of the people in North Carolina being against it. Gerrymandering works and so does the corruption within the State General Assembly.
Good people have been fighting the Good Fight and getting their asses handed to them because of inability of the NC GOP to basically give a shit. As Professor Gene Nichol at UNC put it plain as day: The NC Supreme Crossed the Rubicon with their decision.
With any luck, we will be out of NC by the end of May. The constant Gerrymandering, local and state corruption, along with the destruction of the public education system and the UNC system has been just too much.
I still don’t get it. After the votes are counted how can they reconnect a particular vote to the voter? Isn’t this supposed to be a secret ballot in our America?

The UOCAVA and military votes are only being challenged in four counties: Buncombe, Durham, Forsyth, and Guilford (all counties that voted overwhelmingly for Riggs). Griffin's barely disguised ploy is to hope enough Democratic votes will be overturned in those counties to change the results (which were verified by two recounts) in a close election using rules that were not in effect until after the election was over. Military voters in 96 other counties will not have their votes challenged.
Not surprising and not confusing. Yet another ‘Republican scam’. They have no shame and don’t even bother anymore to try to make their very obvious scams look somewhat logical or reasonable. In fact, they’ve become so ridiculous I wonder how they can keep a straight face. Although come to think of it, Trump and Bukele were not keeping a straight face in the White House today while joking about Garcia’s desperate situation, and sending citizens in the next rounds. But the joke’s on the rest of us who continue to jump through their hoops trying to make sense out of their nonsense. These scam artists are not giving up until they overturn the lawful vote for Riggs.
