Mark Warner: "My Republican friends"

I am so sick of these moderate Dems referring to Repubs in this way. Why are you "friends" with Senators who green-lit *every one* of Trump's unqualified or sycophantic nominees? Who have sat on their asses while Trump was running roughshod over the agencies and terrorizing the citizenry? They are just as complicit with the mess we're in as Trump. You should treat every one of them with contempt. Scold them at every opportunity, embarrass them (if possible), make their lives living hells. Maybe that may encourage them to resign like MTG and others.

Please, Dems, show a little outrage!

So for whom are you going to vote? Spew facts not venom. A candidate who spews only endless venom and rhetoric will never rally enough House or Senate votes to rein in this dictator. Encourage candidates who can vote to stall and then stop all the syncophants. Right NOW we do NOT have the VOTES in Congress. Quit bitchin’ and start pitchin’.

Dems need to realize that the rules no longer apply. It's absurd to employ polite decorum as the regime announces plans to seize soverign nations' assets. We say that Congress has abdicated its power, but it has abdicated OUR power. They represent us, and we don't want this shit.

Time to take off the gloves and be blunt about GOP lies, deception and lack of any care for American values.

We have a lunatic in the White House, a Supreme Court that rubber stamps him, and a Congress too afraid to resist him in any way. He barnstorms the country and the world with his whims and wishes. And Greenland, Denmark, and the EU try to negotiate with him. Bullies need to be hammered, not placated.

I agree with With your first two sentences. Which is why I wish Jennifer had said, after asking what questions he would ask at the Gang of 8 briefing, whether he should not be asking whether there are not an abundance of examples of policy contradictions, incompetence in planning ahead, poor moral judgement, poor political assessment of his own base, poor health, and general lunacy like texting all night about random subjects.... so much so, in fact, that he needs to be reined in, in multiple ways, simultaneously: war powers failure resolution, Amendment 25, impeachment of cabinet officers (?), Gang of 8 press conference calling for his resignation. Or put more briefly, whoever it is that is briefing the "Gang" - do they recognize the danger of his lunacy?

Warner should now realize Rubio cannot be trusted

What is Congress going to do about this?

Didn't you realize the republican coup was in full swing with Mitch Mcconnell refusing to finish the impeachment by having Trump convicted in the senate so he could never run again at the end of his first term?

Then they spent 4 years trying to tar and feather biden and son as being like Trump and Jared?

The lies in the BBB which benefits the wealthy while gaslighting the rest of americans? Drain the swamp and meanwhile epsteins files not release and no closure for victims, no punishment for rapists?

We should have had a national strike months ago , no work, no spending, until trump and trash removed... but most americans apparently are not yet in enough pain to do the right thing.

I no longer believe those republicans care yet alone care deeply about our country. Their lack of action show they do not even respect and honor thd role of congress. I

I just watched April Ryan's interview with Hakeem Jeffries and wanted to post the following comment:

I’ve said it before - and I’ll say it again. Perhaps people will start paying more attention now:

Stephen Miller is the convicted felon’s Rasputin and, in reality, running this country. Be afraid people, he is THE most evil and vile person in this regime, together with his wife, who has already publicized they’re going after Greenland next.

Since I am not a paid subscriber to April, it won't let me post there. I'm sorry, but I can't afford any more subscriptions than I have already.

KnockKnockGreenpeace's avatar

April's "interview" sucked. "Faith will see us through?" I'm not watching her anymore.

You say your Republican colleagues care about our country, but they show no integrity and no decency and no activity in the right direction. We have lost faith in them!

I was struck by Sen Warner saying republicans tell him he is their conscience. Of all the despicable, venal disgusting things for them to believe. Why are they not their own consciences?? Abject Irredeemable COWARDS all of them.

Jennifer Rubin, it’s called oil money with Putin jr( 47). The oil companies are already ready to plunder ( look at the stock market)

Nan Reiner's avatar

It's also - I might venture to say primarily - telling Putin he can have Ukraine (and other parts of Eastern Europe) without objection from the US. Comrade Donald Vladimirovich Krasnov has done the job he was recruited for decades ago and installed for 9 years ago.

Francesca Reitano's avatar

Jen - one thought that popped up when I watched this tonight: Trump keeps saying that this undertaking will be paid for by the oil. Without going into the sad state of Venezuela’s extraction infrastructure - this oil will be taken by our oil oligarchs. The profit, if any, will not be going to our country, right? It sounds insane.

Nothing can be gained if congress is in the dark. This is called the mushroom treatment.

KnockKnockGreenpeace's avatar

Well, they were on vacations, so... Well, Trump wasn't returning Chuck's calls, so... Well, they scheduled a meeting for later this week, so... Congress put themselves in the dark, and by extension, the rest of us.

Jen and Senator Warner, thank you so much for this interview.

Yes, we would call it war. We should be ashamed of ourselves!

Congress has abdicated all of its power to 47. When will they face the destruction of American society at their hands. If they are that afraid of 47 they should step aside and let someone with balls take the helm. 31 of the HRs are showing that wisdom as they are not running again. More of them should take the hint.
