Thanks for this very helpful piece on the ways we can fight back against the trump regime and ICE. Meanwhile here's something to cheer you up. Melania's film, which opens Friday, has been so poorly received that Craig's List is offering $50 to viewers willing to sit through the entire grotesque picture. For punishment like that I think the fee should be at least $500.

Tomorrow Full Court Press.

From Common Cause a couple of minutes ago.

Huge news, Daniel: the Senate just held its first vote on whether ICE gets another $10 billion to harass and attack our neighbors. And 55 senators voted NO.

You (and the over 80,000 Common Cause members who’ve spoken out in the past week) made this happen. If you’re like me, you’ve spent over a year demanding that our representatives in Congress finally stand up and do their jobs.

Daniel, I’m not exaggerating when I say today could finally be that turning point.

This vote was just the first procedural hurdle – and there’s real risk that once Trump turns up the pressure, senators might cave. But, it’s also the best sign we’ve gotten yet that we’re making an impact – so, now I need your help to keep it up.

Basically, the Repubicans don't care if people have been murdered in a Blue State. They still want to fund ICE.

what do you think would happen if a few protesters were murdered in Red states?

Any changes?

Just curious!

Also, how many of the Republican votes were those from Senators retiring?

Daniel Solomon's avatar

We accept all the help we can get.

I'm sure we've had murders in other states, including mine -- Florida. A total of 32 people died while in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody during the calendar year 2025.. A Cuban just died in custody in Tejas.

Inmates from Allegator Alcatraz are missing.

The Minneapolis murders were public.

I am also in FloriDUH. It is shocking and disgusting how inhumane the conditions are in these gulags. We can't shout loudly enough, or long enough, to reverse this pogrom. But of course, these places are run by the for-profit prison corporations where the only goal is mo' money.

Christine's avatar

That's the kind I mean.

What would happen if people were murdered in public in Red States?

DHS can hide and lie about people dying in custody as they already have.

And it's sad to say this, but I think the furor was because each of the Minnesota deaths were of normal white Americans- not immigrants.

I'm not really sure that the anti-immigrant crowd would care if they were immigrants. DHS and Noem will defend their right to be killers.

The anti-immigrant crowd is present but shrinking, while we lovers of democracy and supporters of hard-working immigrant neighbors are expanding and claiming our power!

Democrats should demand the firing of Miller and Noem as a condition of even talking about money.

Georgia Voter's avatar

While everyone is focused on ICE and Minneapolis , a bold MAGA attack on our voting procedures ocurred here in Georgia. Trump, a Missouri prosecutor and FBI seized all 2020 voting records of Fulton County despite numerous recounts and court proceedings in which Trump lost. Georgia votes are no longer secure and will be compromised by likely GOP takeover of the election process in Fulton County with a biased GOP controlled Election Board in charge. There will be rigged investigations and predetermined charges against election officials with Trump bragging about this in Davos last week like any other wannabe fascist. Midterms are now in jeopardy in Georgia.

Why was Tulsi at the records center in Fulton County???

Since last February's "on my desk" Blondi claim, the Trumpstein files have been a major issue for the regime. All these distractions to keep moving one's focus! I haven't shopped at any of the regime's supporters, and I have been in contact with my rep's and senators...a great team who listen! Yes, I will go to support the nurses at the VA, and then 50501's event coming in March....the more, the merrier! Not for the regime, mind you!

Thank you. I received a thank you email from one of the organizations listed at Stand With Minnesota. It's an organization helping affected people in MN keep their pets, feed their pets, get vet care for their pets, etc. The note said in part, "What has unfolded over the past few days has been truly remarkable. Support poured in from nearly every state in the country, from communities across Minnesota, and from more than 10 countries around the world."

I have watched several Congressional hearings 5 minutes in length. It’s pitiful and embarrassing to watch. Pam Bondi comes prepared with some kind of dirt, truth debatable, to dish. She’s combative and disrespectful. Doesn’t answer questions yes or no as asked. “ I can’t talk about that. “ “ You have to ask Patel.” “We’re following the law.” Other long weaving answers off topic. Hegseth is no better. Noem says they haven’t deported any citizens. Kennedy is pitiful. Democratic Senators are aggressive in their questioning and sometimes accusatory (fairly). The cabinet members talk over the Senators. It’s enough to make you sick.
