TRUMPSTEIN. He can talk all he wants about Iceland or about reducing drug prices by 6000% or about his pal Putin, but the Trumpstein files just keep dripping, dripping, dripping. I wonder if it's time to seriously discuss impeaching BONDI for her bad faith and lies as well as Kristi Noem for her bad faith and cruelty?

They should all be tried at the ICC. *Wishful thinking*

Re: Demand a Fight Over Homeland Security Funding:

(TLDR) Jay Kuo points out that ICE is most likely funded through 2029

I (Jay Kuo) wrote that money for ICE in the “One Big Beautiful Bill” had not been appropriated yet by Congressional budget committees, and therefore if they had not passed a budget bill but either allowed funding to lapse (a shutdown) or passed a continuing resolution to fund Homeland Security, the funding would remain at 2024 levels, when the last budget appropriation bill for DHS was enacted.

That is how normal appropriations work. A reconciliation bill doesn’t normally appropriate anything; that’s usually up to the Committees.

For detention/capacity:

“(a) Appropriation.—In addition to amounts otherwise available, there is appropriated to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for fiscal year 2025, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, $45,000,000,000, to remain available until September 30, 2029, for the purposes described in subsection (b).”

For enforcement/removal:

“(a) Appropriation.—In addition to amounts otherwise available, there is appropriated to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for fiscal year 2025, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, $14,400,000,000, to remain available until September 30, 2029, for the purposes described in subsection (b).”

I (Jay Kuo) missed this, and that’s on me. What it meant was that House Dems had very little to work with. ICE was going to get its allocated $75 billion no matter if the government shut down or if there was a continuing resolution to fund it. All a shutdown would do is impact DHS’s other activities, such as FEMA and the Coast Guard.

All demonstrations should take place in front of the local offices or Republicans!!!!!

I love that you included storm prep in your action items.

It may be a mistake to call for “immediate cessation” of Immigration and Customs Enforcement activity in the state." It isn't the enforcement that it is the problem, but rather the method of enforcement. President Obama removed 3 million illegal occupants of the US--about 375,000 per year. No chaos. No terror. Trump removed 200,000 last year amidst catastrophic violence and constitutional violations. We need to manage immigration. We should not have roving gangs of thugs breakling into houses and cars looking for darker skinned people who MIGHT not have adequate documentation. The DHS needs to do its job competently, identifying those actually illegally here, getting a warrant, and providing them with due process.

And now, in a vote that makes me mad, 7 Democrats voted with the Republicans to fund ICE. The vote was 220-207. If they had voted with the rest of their party members, the vote would have been 214-214 not to fund.

The 7 Democrats who voted to fund ICE were:

Rep. Tom Suozzi (New York)

Rep. Henry Cuellar (Texas)

Rep. Don Davis (North Carolina)

Rep. Laura Gillen (New York)

Rep. Jared Golden (Maine)

Rep. Vicente Gonzalez (Texas)

Rep. Marie Glusenkamp Perez (Washington)

Guess those Democrats are fine with our "de facto" Gestapo and their behavior. I also came up with my own German-style acronym that would be pronounced as "ice" in German, i.e., EISS, which stands for Entführung Intern Schutstaffel, meaning Abduction Internal Secret Police. (Had to include "SS" in the term.)

Thank you. 5 calls is a great app. It gives one scripts for different issues and names and contacts info for one’s relevant representatives. I have been using it a lot to phone my senators etc. and I hate talking on the phone!

This needs a judicial challenge immediately: https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/26499371-dhs-ice-memo-1-21-26/

This is why Ms. Noem said they no longer need a judicial warrant to force their way into a private home. This was signed in May last year!

An immigration court is an executive branch function that answers to the President, not a judicial branch function. This is a power grab from the judicial system.
