In the wild cats will sometimes rinse their kill off before eating it. I only learned this recently because my tuxie Maine Coon will wash certain flavors of his canned food in his water bowl 🙄 So now I pick the bowl up until after he and his brother are done eating
I love tuxedo cats, Our Oscar was a long haired tuxedo. Unfortunately kidney disease got when he was 9. Which is why we have three water bowls for two cats. One is a fountain without the lid, so it is more like a raised bowl with moving water
You have really shown your love for Bertie after forgiving him for the bite. I have come to realize that cats are the only wild animals that have every been "domesticated" to the point that we live with them and their wild quirks. Tuxedos like Bertie are gorgeous. The best name I have seen for a tuxedo kitty was Jeeves. But Bertie is quite nice. Quirky and handsome as all getout.
Whenever I am about to take my dog out, he races to find one of his toys, as if to share the excitement with him.... I wonder if Bertie places a toy in her food bowl, when it is perilously low, in order to feed her buddy? It is something that makes her bowl more noticeable to you, too!
That Bertie is still your adored cat -- after winding up in the hospital from her "worst moment" -- says something about who you are, and the depth of your love, forgiveness, and understanding. She is a fortunate kitty!!
Ah Bertie, you beauty... short hair tuxedo kitties are my fave. Thank you for showing up here, during such a long period of bad news, and for reminding me of a little tuxedo girl who was very dear. So now your mom knows that, when infuriated and defending your territory, you may become a tuxedo torpedo! Lesson learned, injury forgiven (and hopefully, it fully healed), your mom is da best, you lucky guy!
My tuxedo does the same thing when she sees a cat outside! Ballistic! She throws herself at the window. If her sister is nearby, she (sis) gets trounced! Bertie is very handsome! ❤️
Bertie is a cuddly little muffin. He is also an intrepid screen fighter who will make mincemeat of any wayward outside kitty who tests the boundaries of his territory. And yes the window screen is part of that. Sleep well little warrior
Hi Bertie. You are very handsome. And...your pic makes Mom and I miss our Cat Clooney, who was also black and white. He was wonderful and a very good traveler on a lead. He never tried to get away. Clooney cat crossed over at 18 last year. I'm Finnegan Dog and was lucky to live with him for a year...maybe more. I'm not very good at numbers! We miss him everyday but know he is with us in spirit (also the name of one of Mom's wonderful cats). Anyway, Thanks for sharing your picture and for bein' a Contrarian. And, I'm sure you are helping your human stay as sane as possible in these hard times. Take care, Bertie! Finnegan Dog in CA
Whoa, that's quite a story. Never get between fighting cats, even if they are separated by a screen. He is cute, anyway.
Aw Bertie, we know you didn’t mean it!
He's innocent!
Lovely cat. For the record, ALL cats are Contrarian.
Only in the best way.
Right you are!
I am certain that the ritual placement of the Cat Toy in the bowl guarantees the rapid replenishment of sustenance. (It would work on me!)
My long ago tuxedo, Constantine, preferred baby's breath and loved cantelope and honey dew melon.
Awww! My tuxedo girl loves (and demands) popcorn.
Cute but ferocious
Our cats put their toys in their water bowls. Three water bowls with one used for cleaning paws.
One of my cats does this too! I have no idea why! Do you know?
Bertie is very handsome!!
I think it’s like “ahem, I need food, like now”.

Interesting! Thanks for that info. Happy week, everyone!

We have three water bowls for two cats and they use them all. So yay. Cats rock!!!

Bertie is a cutie 🥰 Never underestimate the fury of an enraged cat, and please take care of yourself. Bertie needs you!
