I so enjoy Jared's LdL talks and his economic analyses because he is so knowledgeable but also human! And now I get to see his lovely kitty. Thank you for this and yes, it is nice to see a cat! MEOWlitia speaking here.
I trust people who love their cats, more than others. Because it means the cat is likely loyal to them for good reasons. When my daughter started dating a man who had two cats who liked to sleep on him (he’s very tall), I knew he would be the one. Cats do what the FBI used to do; they are vetting people who were nominated for important positions. Thank goodness this institution is still active and functioning.
Totally agree Karen with what you said.... " I trust people who love their cats, more than others". Me too. Cats are incredibly intelligent and can "sense, feel" who a person really is. Thank you Karen. Cats are such a gift for us humans.
Hi Stripey! This is Finnegan Dog from CA. Yup you are beautiful! And, my human mom says you look soooo much like her cat Cutie, that she was gifted with when she 6 y/o. She lived to be 20 so we sure hope you have a long happy life. We are mourning our cat Clooney who died a year ago at age 18. He was such a wonderful guy. He walked on a halter so he could travel with us. And, the halter kept him safe during evacs from fires when we lived in the mountains. Not fun!! Sure hope you don't have to go through that! We are so happy for you that you have humans who love you and shared your picture. You look so regal! Take care of yourself and your humans, Stripey. They need us, their non-human family, more than ever right now in these crazy times.
Stripey is just beautiful! I can't believe she is 15! She obviously has such a loving, caring family who gives her lots of love and affection and delicious, healthy food. She really is stunning. Thank you for sharing her with us. I have had cats my entire life and love them!
Louise, between talking heads on the inside track and pundits who flog their wares, there are tens of thousands of regular folk who have wonderful pets and engaging backstories -- Jared Bernstein is one of the best economists out there, but the pet description could've come from Grok. More to the point, if you post "Subscribers are invited", ya kinda sorta have an obligation to tell subscribers how "to submit their furry friend."
Once again, you post "Subscribers are invited to submit their furry friend!" but don't provide details on where to send submissions ... and, ONCE AGAIN, the owner of Pet of the Week is a prominent friend of The Contrarian. ("Lordy, the fix is in." -- Mikey Johnson)
I see your point but, at the same time, I find it kind of nice to see pets of some of those who I only know as "talking heads". It humanizes them. And it's SO much better than seeing folks flog their books (EVERYBODY has a book!) by the ostentatious display behind them when they're participating from home.
Oh my! Tabbies are the best most personable kitties 🥰🥰😻😻

Stripey is beautiful. She looks like she's a force to be reckoned with.
Yay!! a cat for Pet of the Week! Stripey is gorgeous!
Awww, lovely girl! She looks half her age. Adore tabbies!
Beautiful kitty.
What kind of puzzles is Stripey solving? Looks cute.

Yes, I agree on the humanizing aspect, Louise, but as Stone says they should explain how to send submissions having invited subscribers to do so.
As a child, I received a stuffed tiger for Christmas one year and I named it Stripey. I'm sure Jared's Stripey thinks she's a 🐅 tiger!😊
She’s lovely!
