You guys are the bomb. Putting our money where your mouth is! I can't think of anyone else who can combine solid information, humor, and direct resistance action the way you do. Hats off and keep it up!!

We couldn't do this without you, our Contrarians! Thank you for the support in the fight to save our democracy.

I applaud you for invoking Delaware shareholder remedies against Disney. Remedies at law or equity whenever and wherever applicable must be pursued. Great lawyering.

Go get ‘em, Norm! You give us hope that our democracy can be saved.

"And why would a paper that prides itself on defending free expression..."

Wait. I thought we were talking about the Washington Post? It would take narrow margins, two columns, and single-spaced lines of 8-point font to keep the names of its departed defenders of free expression on a single page.

When they take "Democracy dies in darkness" off their masthead, then we'll talk.

I applaud and support (thru my subscription and local action) all that you are doing! One thing I am curious about but don't see much coverage of is the "private" funding of the abhorrent White House ballroom. How is this desecration of the people's house being funded and by whom? Are there any inquiries being made as to the donors and their affiliations/nations?

what is built can be torn down and historic buildings get restored all the time...

Mary-Chilton van Hees's avatar

The enormous cost of returning the People’s House to its former beauty is the best reason NOT to let the ballroom be built in the first place. We are letting the idiot get away with everything he wants while thinking we can turn back the mess he is making. What he has done in 8 months will take years to repair.

Mary, you are right of course, but the foundation is under construction, the rose garden is now concrete. These things can be reversed. To reverse the demise of democracy will be more difficult.

God bless James Comey. He was the first to not agree to bend his knee to drumpf. This indictment is all about his not agreeing to be loyal to anyone or anything except our Constitution. Bravo to him!! We need more people just like him in politics. Honest people. Middle class people as opposed to all those greedy munchkins in Congress. Also, so glad Jimmy Kimmel is back on the air! I'm too old to sit up past 10 or 11 at night but totally stopped watching anything on ABC. We have also cut back on buying anything except necessities to protest all these stupid tariffs that are costing us, the people living here in America, way too much. Stop shopping for non-essentials and a lot of those businesses kissing drumpf's ass will be feeling it in their pockets. I hope all these stupid minions of his find themselves a nice, warm seat in Hell!!

Mary-Chilton van Hees's avatar

Also, cutting back on buying nonessentials helps the economy sink which is a way to stick it to 47.

Nancy Karam's avatar

Exactly!!! I don't need new kitchen or bathroom cabinets right now. I definitely don't need any new upholstered furniture and I sure as hell don't need a new car right now, either! Giving up buying any "wants" for even 6 months will send a loud message. No new cell phones. No new gaming boards. No new appliances unless they are broken beyond repair. If you don't really "need" it, don't buy it!!

I am proud to be a subscriber to the Contrarian. And I want to thank you and everybody that works on our behalf in the court to stop Trump and the Maga right. Thank you!

Bobbie Hallig's avatar

You definitely give me hope. I do ACLU, Planned Parenthood and the World Central Kitchen as my way of fighting back. Many thanks for what The Contrarian does.

KnockKnockGreenpeace's avatar

Thanks for supporting World Central Kitchen and the others. Watch the Jose Andres segment of Chef's Table on Netflix; incredibly good energy from an incredibly good man. How he survived the loss of his WCK people in Gaza, I don't know.

Another week, another volley of Trumpian BS thrown back into his face. I feel better knowing Norm and his associates are on guard, but I will feel even better when we can repel Trump's attempts to affect the 2026 midterm elections. A Democratic majority in the House will spell trouble for the big buffoon, because he will finally be held accountable by Congress, which under Republican rule has abdicated its duties and let Trump do what he pleases. In my view, that's a traitorous act.

WHAT can be done About not allowing by swearing in the Rep from AZ?

The Contrarian's avatar

Important question, Carole. Make your voices heard! Contact Representative Johnson's office, as well as other relevant offices, and pressure his donors. Donors can push Johnson to swear in duly elected Congressional members. As we have seen with the Jimmy Kimmel cancellation, we have power in numbers. - The Contrarian

So proud to be a Contrarian. Thank you, thank you, thank you. What a team!

I feel exactly the same way!! I couldn’t be happier than my teensy tiny little bit of $ goes to fund meaningful (and expert) litigation for all the right reasons! AND I get to hear all about it. I do have to make my own cookies, but. . .

Norm and Jenn, you are "Profiles in Courage." You are our heros!

Americans deserve better.

I wish you had a button on your site where we could contribute extra to help out more. Having a subscription is good, but speaking for myself, I'd prefer to give my extra to The Contrarian. At least I feel like I'm doing SOMETHING. (But, perhaps that opens up tax problems.)

By the way, The Last Palace by Norm is a fascinating read! It offers a different angle on WWII, and, Norms is simply an excellent story teller. It also foreshadows some of what we're seeing today. We just don't seem to learn, do we?
