Thank you for acknowledging what a moment this was, unlike the rest of the media. It gave me hope that I haven't had since November.

Bookers speech timing was impeccable!

Agreed! He's a wonderful orator, and while I haven't yet listened to the entire speech, he's a deep thinker. I'm embarrassed to admit that a few days before the CR vote, I was truly annoyed with him. Some reporter caught him in a hallway, and asked him about the CR vote. And, Booker said something like, "I can't believe Republicans didn't include us in the process," or something like that. My immediate response was, "OMG. Just another clueless Democrat." So glad he proved me wrong!

Your conscious effort to speak about the power of words is commendable. And I thank you. Words matter. And Senator Booker used them beautifully and powerfully. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🇺🇸👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Thank you, Senator Booker. I wish you were my Senator.

I really appreciated how you spoke of Congressman Al Green’s interruption of the State of the Union as a positive protest. I felt that too many people were not supporting him while I thought it was very brave and meaningful. It was a message that these are dark days and extraordinary things need to happen.

Thank you.

I felt the same, Nancy. In fact, I called my California District’s Representative and gave him hell for not standing next to Green!

America has produced great leader starting with Thomas Paine, George Washington, Lincoln, Perkins, FDR, JFK, MLK, JL and now Booker. They are heroes of American democracy.

Yes to the power of words. Now if we could get some people to be willing to listen.

"There’s a lot of talk these days about political theater."

That's what Senator Booker's floor-holding speech was - political theater.

Tell me you didn’t read the full article without telling me you didn’t read the full article

Why? Just get to whatever point it was that you could have made in your initial response.

Are you saying it was wrong? Help me understand. What's your point?

Hal's avatar

I neither stated nor implied that the speech in and of itself was wrong. Senator Booker has that right under Senate rules. I responded to the author's comments about political theater and said that was my opinion of the Senator's speech - that it was political theater.

Okay. I guess I thought you might have some insight I might have missed. Thanks for clarifying and responding.

I hear the orange turd already wants to dispose of mush mouth. Now we know what it takes - disassembling our entire government, spending more money than you saved, enraging everyone in America except the incels, embarrassing the orange turd by LOSING in Wisconsin, becoming the owner of a failed EV company, the owner of rockets that blow up - wait ‘til there are humans in them, cuddling up to the CCP, butt f*ing putilanomous and on the dockets of several criminal cases. Who would want you? Not any of your bastard children that have an adult brain (whatever that is, where would they get one from anyway?). Your whores only want your money. Nobody wants your cars or the dealerships. Lately, only Sunny and what’s his name wanted a ride home on the one rocket that didn’t blow up. And I’m guessing there are a few continents who don’t want your lily white ass anywhere near customs, regardless your passports.
