Are we really going to have to suffer through AI-generated Trump memes accompanying articles? I get enough of the crap literally everywhere else. Please don't do this, Contrarian. Reality is gross enough. Let's leave it at that.

"Insurgents" to disperse.

AKA protestors at No Kings II rallies this Saturday.

In the millions.

From sea to shining sea.

Portlander here. Allow me to join the ranks of my neighbors throughout Portland who are commenting wherever they can that EVERYTHING IS FINE!! I live in downtown Portland, half a mile from the ICE facility on the South Waterfront. I see day care kids playing in the parks, runners, bikers, walker enjoying exercise along the Willamette River's gorgeous walkways every hour of the day. I eat at downtown restaurants, and often walk around at night. NOTHING IS HAPPENING HERE THAT IS NOT THE USUAL COURSE OF BUSINESS!! There are a couple of guys in animal suits just standing around at the ICE facility - and some old ladies sitting on chairs having a Knit-In. That's it!!! The administration is trying to provoke us, but I comment my fellow Portlanders for not taking the bait.

Hard to "like" this article when it is so devastating. Trump says the quiet stuff out loud. Experience tells us he really means it.

The cruelty of this regime should be unfathomable. But it's happening in today's America.

I love that you called the judges "reality-based"

Before the group pic and signing of an agreement to what we still don't know, Trump said beside the president of Egypt in another moment of glory for him. What were his very first comments?

"I say the word crime here, and they don't know what it is". They don't have any crime here". And then he began to rail against all the cities in America who are "out-of-control" because of the "stupid" democrat governors in the US. Not like in Egypt -- everything under control...

Another moment when Trump shows his love for iron-fisted government, and a strong-man who runs it. "Why don't they stand at attention to me, (like they do here, in North Korea)?

Only this time, the stakes are higher -- for us -- as he wings his way home, contemplating how he can squash dissent and democracy back home.

When masked men are kidnapping people off the streets -- citizenship be damned; tear gas unleashed indiscriminately, near schools, daycare, shops, and house; cars rammed even though against the law by local police, how far away are we from bone saws and undisclosed burial sites?

Just to make a point, one more plea for no altered Trump imagery. It's bad enough as it is. In fact, we don't need to see him at all. Just post some flowers.

"The president just wants people to be kept safe, and we’re exploring everything that we can do to make sure that the American people are safe in their own country”" JD (juvenile delinquent?) Vance.

That is utter bullshit. Sending ICE and the federalized National Guard into cities where they are neither needed nor wanted does not imbue residents with safety. What it does is create additional instability, assuming there was any present in the first place.

There need to be clear and definitive criteria for invoking the Insurrection Act. It cannot appear out of the blue just because Trump imagines that one is taking place.

What standards must be met to invoke the insurrection act?

There had better be more than just "because I say so". A diseased mind always the victim, seeking revenge and retribution is not competent to make the decision.
