In 2005 police in Palm Beach Florida began investigating Epstein for abuse of possibly dozens of young girls. By 2008 he pled guilty to solicitation of a child for prostitution and prostitution. In what has been called a controversial plea deal, Epstein was allowed tp serve his thirteen-month sentence mostly in house arrest in his home under a strange work-release program. "Controversial" hardly begins to explain this strange sentence.

While the Trump-Epstein friendship was purportedly over by this time, who knows what Epstein might have known about DJT's conduct prior to the ending of their friendship. There's little doubt that even as a private citizen, the now-president would have had influence in Florida and could have thrown this around to help a former friend who might have had damaging information about him. This plea deal needs to be probed thoroughly.

And with all the other objectives the House Oversight Committee has, it should also ensure that Ghislaine Maxwell is never pardoned and is returned to her original place of incarceration. She is being protected for a reason.

Speaker Johnson is a dishonest coward, but at least his claim of transparency is accurate . In fact, we can easily see right through him. The worst sort of hypocrite, hiding behind religion, to defend the criminal in the White House.

I just watched the entire victims' press conference (1-1/2 hours long) and I have to say I am totally speechless at the depravity they had to endure and their incredible courage in coming forward.

To describe what is going on here as a hoax is an Outrage. Did our president enable a pedophile? What did he know and when did he know it? A fractured relationship really doesn’t mean much in this case.

I think he did much more than enable a pedophile. He abused those girls himself.

Trump's behavior over the Epstein files, Maxwell, and his attempts at coverup is a clear sign of consciousness of guilt.

He's guilty, and he knows he's guilty!

And WE know he's guilty!

The 26th Ammendment giving women the right to vote passed by one vote when the mother of a Tennessee presentative asked her son to vote to approve the ammendment. Can't a mother, wife, daughter, or granddaughter convince two Republicans with a moral conscious to vote for the discharge petition?

I think you meant the 19th Amendment but your point is well taken. We never know when we'll make a persuasive argument to a key person.

A while ago I read in a trustworthy media source that Alex Acosta once told an interlocutor that he was told to go easy on Epstein because of Epstein's involvement in intelligence. Since reading this, I have seen no follow up on this issue. However, it explains why no federal agency has released all the Epstein files held by the U.S. Department of Justice.

A "coverup" by the Trump administration? Perhaps Congressman Garcia can explain why there was no interest by either political party to release the files during the Biden administration. If there were damaging revelations about Trump, certainly such info would have been leaked during the campaign. Jen conveniently never asks. Congressman Garcia should subpoena former AG Garland to give testimony before Congress.

Maybe because Trump used it as a campaign issue while the Biden administration allowed the DOJ to work according to law, policy, and practice.

"...while the Biden administration allowed the DOJ to work according to law, policy, and practice."

That may be true, but at a time when the Left was throwing everything possible via the legal system at Trump, I find it difficult to believe that Biden's DOJ would not release damaging info if they actually had something. And, to my knowledge, not a single one of the women who testified or were interviewed said anything about Trump with regards to Epstein.

Still, I am an advocate for complete transparency. Release everything and let the chips fall where they may.

Thank you, Rep. Garcia, for this conversation with Jen.
