We have lost the biggest bargaining tool we have with China, due to this tariff wobble. Diplomacy matters, and we have squandered our ability to make real headway in trade negotiations, which would help protect us against advance toward WW3. We need to get the hooligans out, and get competent people rehired into the agencies again, and into the posts which demand real leadership and cooperation with Congress.
