Another act of brutal violence today, one which will reverberate in terrible ways for a long time.

Another crowd of terrified onlookers subjected to rule by the gun, rather than the rule of law and access to free speech for all.

Another grotesque example for the next nutball with access to military-style weaponry to degrade our already degraded country even further than most of us thought possible.

I notice the most immediate condemnations of this violent act came from those whom this young man hated the most, and constantly vilified —Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Gabby Giffords, Pete Buttigieg, others, as was right and proper to do.

I can’t help wondering whether — had the victim been a liberal Democrat — would the fright-wing gun “enthusiasts” be issuing their usual, cynical calls for “thoughts and prayers” for the victim’s family right now.

Somehow I think not.

I can't help wondering whether - because the victim was a conservative Republican - Jen would take her Friday "Undaunted" column and acknowledge the senseless violence against those with whom we disagree.

Somehow I think not, but I would love to be proven wrong on that one.

"Trump downplays domestic violence."

Is this the same man who pardoned 1,500 perpetrators of grave domestic violence.

implicitly giving violent attackers license to continue their behavior.

No? Really?

I wish I thought this country would ever be disarmed, making daily shootings impossible. I wish there were as much outrage from the right over today's school shooting in Colorado as over the attack in their hate monger. I am grateful for the insistence on condemning the violence, no matter the target. The violence, all of it, is abhorent. Rqually abhorent is the behavior of thise who only condemn attacks on "their" side.

We seem to be enacting our own Israeli Palestinian war, right here at home.

we did make some progress over those years but sadly now it is gone

Thank you for having a written commentary. So many platforms are video based. While this is an easy way to share news, it simply does not reach as many people. I really hope we do not lose the news in print.

All The Contrarian videos/interviews are available in print as Transcripts. This option is right underneath the video box.

If I lived in Oklahoma I’d move. Plain and simple. All they care about is their bull**** politics not the future or the wellbeing of their kids and the success of their state. Many excellent columns today on The Contrarian. Everyone stay safe.
