In my opinion, legacy media has failed because of the two false gods they serve slavishly-- money and power. I don't see them turning from their corruption until they thing it's profitable to do so. Trump is and always will be a snake oil salesman. Facts and truth are never an advantage when selling "snake oil". The only thing that matters is "charisma" and "exaggerated promises" (lies). As someone who grew up on Long Island and in Manhattan I couldn’t agree more. When people give him cover by focusing on his age and speculating about dementia I can’t help pointing out that trump has ALWAYS been a liar, narcissist, sexual predator, charlatan and racist.
His niece Mary Trump says that Trump is the same person he's always been. His age and possible dementia just prevent him from hiding his true self as effectively as in the past.

I haven't trusted the so called legacy media since the 1970's when I lived near the Canadian boarder and listened to CBC radio out of Canada all day long and then my ex-husband would spend a couple of hours in the evening looking at the so called legacy news stations. I became shockingly aware that Americans were getting only about 1/2 of the news that was going on in the world.
My reliance is now on journalsts like Robert Reich, Heather Cox Richardson, Dan Rather, Jennifer Rubin, Norm Eisen and others on Substack and The Guardian, the BBC and some more minor attention to PBS.
Used to deliver and read the Washington Post as a kid. Now wouldn't touch it.

The main difference between then and now was that the top newsroom leader at The Washington Post during the first term was Executive Editor Martin (Marty) Baron, who retired from the Post in February, 2021.
