Finally, Good News: We're Winning
Two HUGE victories in court against Trump and his cronies
Contrarians,
We just had two of the biggest wins in court against the Trump administration, thanks to you!
Saving the Kennedy Center
After our own Norm Eisen argued the case, a federal judge blocked the administration’s attempt to close the Kennedy Center and change its name.
The court ordered that Donald Trump’s name be stripped from the building within two weeks, rightly declaring that only Congress has the power to change the name of this national cultural landmark.
Why does this matter? We are throwing sand in the gears of Trump’s authoritarian machine every single day, especially while he tries to re-make an American institution in his own image. This regime knows that taking control over cultural expression is an exercise in exerting power and oppression. And now this ruling is a boulder that has stopped him in his tracks.
And that was not our only victory on Friday in the fight against Trump’s corruption.
Fighting the Grift
A Florida federal court has reopened Trump’s IRS case — the one he used to create that notorious $1.8 billion fund. As a result of a motion that Democracy Defenders and our great partners filed for 35 bipartisan former federal judges, the Florida judge launched an investigation, reopening the case to look into the settlement agreement that was never filed with the court and caused enormous public backlash.
Trump will not just get away with this blatant grift against the American people — we are fighting every step of the way.
