The problem that we're facing currently is a race as to whether it will be Trump or the United States that goes first. Hopefully it will be Trump and those of his administration. The midterm vote next year will start the unraveling process - if we have an election. We must work as if we will so as not to put an end to democracy and this country.
But the Confederacy didn't lose. It just took them about 165 years to win! Hopefully, it is only a temporary victory and they will soon be losers again -- but the outcome is uncertain.
