Very telling that West described his child rape crimes as something that happened to him, as if HE was the victim. Maybe this is now par for the course in Trump’s GOP.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who was put off by his wording. Something that happened? To you? It says so much about him in just two sentences.

"Hey, if that little girl did not want me to do that... she should not have had that hot red tricycle!"

I would not be remotely surprised to hear that "defense" from some of these self-proclaimed heroes of the working class.

Men who sexually abuse children won't accept responsibility for their crimes. It's never their fault.

That is typical rapist behavior. Rapists will acknowledge it was nonconsensual but they will never admit it was rape and they always blame the victims: it was their fault somehow.

What a sleaze bag. Whatley and others knew about it too. That makes them all a party to the sleaziness.

Not to be cliche, but....silence speaks volumes. We hope they publicly disavow this man, behavior, and the leaders and structures that fostered his rise.

Wow. Republicans are OK with an unrepentant child molester (and someone married him, or stayed married to him) because he gets donations for them? Judges are OK with this guy raising money for them? Skin-crawling.

When the article began, I thought that it was about Donald Trump. Instead, West sounds like a Trump mini-me. Has the Republican Party totally lost its moral and ethical compass?

I didn't know being listed as a sex offender had an expiration date. I thought once on the registry you were there for life!

Ciera Stone's avatar

I thought so too…. Turns out, you can put it as part of a deal! Wow….

On the one hand, horrible child rapists exist on all sides of the political aisle.

On the other hand, it looks like only Republicans want to elect them to office.

And on the gripping hand, it looks like the GQP sure loves to quietly rehabilitate these convicted sex offenders and sweep their past under the rug.

The sleaze bags are the GOP judges who took his money in spite of his record. I guess they condone this behavior.

So are there ANY Republicans who aren't child molesters?

Sounds like NC. Child predators never quit. When will repubs and white nationalists realize that? In fact, being a child predator is a prerequisite for white christian nationalism. I suppose the question should be, when will we realize that?

North Carolina Republicans embrace pedophiles. The rot goes from top to bottom. Vote for Roy Cooper.
