You are not alone in this this strange habit. You are not alone.

I ask myself the same questions and am still trying to figure out why I like these so much.

I guess I’m in good company.

ESCAPISM. I don't watch them at the rate this writer does, and not all year round, but I'll take a Hallmark movie over anything with housewives in the title or Kardashians in it.

The world is a shit show ~ for me, this is a way to decompress. I'd watch one or two a year, but after last year's election, I went full disassociation into Christmas movies immediately. Hot Frosty, anyone?

Hot Frosty, a future cult classic! Jingle Bell Heist may be the 2025 contender...

Saw that on the 'Flix feed yesterday, and knew it would be in my near future! 😉

And, can now confirm: Jingle Bell Heist is a win!

I love this. Once each year I watch While You Were Sleeping, The Holiday and Serendipity.

Yes, I start my Christmas CDs on T’day (all 100 of them). It is well past Kwanza and even Valentine’s day before finished. Who needs a dead tree to end the season? Happy Christmas, Merry New Year.

I haven’t seen a couple of these, so thank you for adding to my Christmas movie rotation! 🎄🎬

Okay, "Christmas Ever After" (Hulu) ~ writing and acting markedly above average for the genre!

I’m in the not until after Thanksgiving camp. However, my husband will watch them all year long! We’ll have to check out the Sappy Holiday, it sounds great!

I think you shouldn't worry too much about this habit. You are not alone. I read an interview with Terri Dresbach, the woman who designed costumes for the first few seasons of Outlander. She is the wife of the showrunner Ron Moore, who was also the Battlestar Galactica guy. She told the interviewer he has a habit that she finds weird, watching Hallmark movies. She said he will sit and watch them for hours.

I've known people hooked on Christmas movies. Including one longtime divorced man who ponders why he can't find love like these people in these movies. Ha.

It's not just women escaping into these movies- my husband & grown son do as well. Definitely a temporary antidote to the insanity & cruelty of now - a no-stress escape to a nearly ideal world that reminds us that "most people are good" (cue the Luke Bryan song!)

Aagh! I cannot stand these cheesy, sappy movies! Exactly as you describe. Add in the extra high pitched voice of the main female character.

Maybe the modern version of 'princess, knight in shining armor and they lived happily ever after'?

You have plenty of company. I promise!
