Thanks for running my latest column, The Contrarian. There are so many good reasons that people have come to distrust the legacy media. New media can do better. You're all welcome to come join the effort at https://theystandcorrected.substack.com !
Good article. At issue today in America is the exposure of a deep lack of concern for our children. How this has developed over the years, we may never fully know, but it exists and is currently openly demonstrated by the Republican Party. Whether it be guns or the decision to stop vaccinations, or even the hell bent movement to fund private and religious schools with public funds, this all boils down to a deliberate choice between voters and their leaders' desire to choose a path that deliberately lacks any form of concern or compassion!
This does not appear to be merely a political choice, rooted in the racist mentality of Trump and his associates; it preceded Trump and had its initial roots in the corporate media's lack of concern for truth and justice, and its primary interest is sound bites and money! But now, even as these issues continue to arise and the media is at least starting to actually report what Republicans are doing, they remain silent when it comes to our children.
Many have tried to force the Democrats to begin a direct assault on the media, but thus far, they too remain silent. Trump bullies his way into the daily reporting, and the Democrats are silent with their criticism of the media, despite the obvious! So, how can we avoid the continued downward cycle of caring for our children when their parents do not even realize that they are the reason for their child's death? That is the issue at hand, and until the Democrats (the only alternative to the Republicans) begin to become the media we have lost, our children will suffer!
The obvious solution to the phenomenon is to eliminate the reason it exists in the first place: the proliferation of guns in the country. But this will never happen; most gun owners don't accept that their "right" to possess the number one killer of kids should be abrogated.

Thank you. We need to be more aware. And we need to provide more mental health care.

Ho hum.
Another day in the good ol' US of A
Another mass shooting
Thoughts and prayers all around
To everyone, every day
And twice on Sundays
Next round of thoughts and prayers is on me
Nothing to see here, folks
So just keep moving along
Lather, rinse, repeat
The reason I'll spring for a round of thoughts and prayers for everybody is because thoughts and prayers don't cost anything.
And they're worth every penny of it.
