We know he is stopping armaments and aid to Ukraine, will he squeeze Zelensky to step down?, Will he open the door and let Putin take whatever he wants?
I’m not hopeful Ukraine will have much agency if Trump’s idea of success is to give in to Putin and force Zelensky to give Trump mining/extraction rights.
Were I down to my last dollar I'd have no problem betting it on Don the Con going to Alaska and playing the role of Don the Butt-Licking-Wimp. He'll turn into Putin's lapdog, and I'd bet my last buck that he's gonna cave.
I know nothing about Russia beyond what I can read, but I think Ukraine would be better off having me deal with Putin. First off, he’d be surprised. Secondly, I would have my own translator and note taker, as well all my own food and water in a locked and guarded container!!👹

We can all hope that Trump will do something constructive coming out of this meeting with Putin (which should never have occured), but history tells us that's extremely unlikely. Sadly, Trump and the Republican party don't give a darn about the plight of Ukraine and it's a good bet they are all seeking to get as much personal financial gain out of Putin as possible. There used to be some Republicans that were rhetorically on the side of Ukraine (and for American democracy for that matter), but those Republicans have decided to pledge their allegiance to Trump and authoritarianism. Hopefully Europeans can keep Ukraine afloat until Americans can restore something resembling a democracy in our country.

No, a ceasefire is NOT and should not be the number one goal. “Stopping the killing” is Trump’s line that actually means Ukrainian surrender to Russia, and the press being kicked out, so we no longer SEE the oppression, the systematic destruction of Ukrainian culture and language, the murders and the torture.

There will be no “wins” from this “summit” for anyone but Putin, who has already won another grovel from Trump. And officially giving up any territory would only whet Vlad’s appetite for more.
The number one priority is to get Ukraine more weapons and ammunition as quickly as possible. Nothing short of increasing the cost of the war for Russia to the point that it’s untenable for Russia to continue is going to stop it. And despite Putin’s lies, this war IS an economic and demographic disaster for Russia.
