Before the election, Tom Nichols of The Atlantic was pissed because Trump was going to inherit Biden's great economy and take credit for it. Any sane person would have tinkered around the edges a bit and then called it his own. The mistake was in thinking Trump was sane.
44% still support this clown because they see everything he does as part of a plan, part of what God is having him do. Stuff like that. They have gotten so far down the rabbit hole that they cannot come back out. To come back out and admit they were wrong would be a horrible blow to them personally. Their own view of themselves is too wrapped up in their view of Trump. MANY people would actually rather DIE (and I am being literal here, not figurative in any sense of the word) than admit that they were wrong about anything major or basic. And Trumpism is pretty major and basic to a lot of people's identities.
44% still seems high once the financial hits become apparent. It might be easier for them to die (of Covid, for example) than to see their savings plummet in the stock market or markets dry up for their agricultural products. We should expect that 44% to come down. I agree that some people will never change their views. And it seems likely that many will twist things up, somehow, someway, to blame Biden, the Democrats, their target du jour. I just wouldn’t underestimate how the deterioration of their own financial well-being will affect them.
You have a way with words that not only brings home the point you are making but does so in a way that even MAGAs might "get it".
Thanks for the clarity of explanation and for the perspective (which most of us probably lack because so far everything that Muskrump has done affects us negatively.)

How the hell do 44% of Americans still support this clown

Great analysis, thank you.

How does one get MAGAs to read it, though?
Thanks for sharing this info and clarity.
