Jen, this was one of your best interviews ever. I could listen to AW every day and never grow tired of his clear-eyed understanding of the law, together with superb ability to make complex ideas accessible to us non-legal types. Thanks to you both!
I very much hope "that Comey and his lawyer want to go this way because it will show that Trump has been vindictive. They have an interest in exposing Trump on a political, personal basis. It’s not just enough for James Comey to say, well, they had a good faith belief, and look, there really wasn’t evidence, and I got off. This is the point, to show that this Justice Department, this president, is completely out of control, and is doing something that no other president has or would ever do."
Thank you for the anecdote about Justice Coney Barrett taking the Solicitor General to task. These days, hearing anyone demanding decency and respect on someone else’s behalf is like a breath of fresh air!
Thank you both for your comments on P. Bondi. I have been irritated or rather outraged since having seen pieces (that was all I could tolerate) of her responses to questions posed. Just hearing it characterized by Andrew as "a performance" immediately settled me for the moment. You both clearly understand it for what it was. Disgraceful for a government official.
This regime is: dishonest, greedy and cruel. Those chosen to work with the president and now blindly supporting him also display the same characteristics. Appalling.
Thank you both for sharing your knowledge, opinions and keen observations!
Jen, I love your conversations, because they are lively and informative. But I would like to ask you to please refrain from talking over your guests or ending their sentences for them. The problem is that two voices together ends up garbling both speakers, and it is almost impossible (at least for me) to understand what is actually being said. I understand the impulse: it is one that I've had to work on myself, for the very reason I mention. It's unfair to the listener.

Great discussion.
It’s great to hear an in depth legal perspective on this from a pro than from a less seasoned attorney. Thanks for breaking it down.

Exactly right about the ‘Supremes’, who told him essentially to do whatever he likes. They knew they were unleashing a monster.
