At some point SCOTUS surely must realize that they will become non-essential personnel in a dictatorship. Perhaps that lightbulb has finally illuminated!

Save for the two members who dissented. They fully understand how the riches and favors will pour down for them should a dictatorship ensue.

I'm not as sure about that. I wouldn't be surprised if the rich threw the entire SCOTUS out with the bath water as part of Government Efficiency. There's nothing in it for the rich to give any consideration to those judges after they become a vestige of the previous government. Hell, Trump is practically ignoring them already, even those two.

I had wondered about the same thing. I feel validated by your comment...

When I tell people that Trump is going to "suspend" the mid-term election, they tell me "He can't do that; that's illegal" as if Trump has a track record of obeying the rule of law. People are so naive and uncurious. It'll be our downfall.

If you truly believe the trump regime will not defy a Supreme Court order I've got a bridge to sell you. This has been coming ever since inauguration.

I fervently hope you are wrong, but would not be surprised if the regime proves you right.

And fortified by that loving handshake after the SOTU speech.

Of all the cruel, illegal acts ... the most heinous to date by the DJT regime is the manner in which people are being abducted and shipped to CECOT in El Salvador without any due process. It seems the regime is more likely to be making up charges for many, if not most, as reasons to expel these individuals...charges they likely cannot prove in a court of law. That is a high crime. Impeachment is warranted ... oh, and equally heinous, is reading about children dying in Sudan from starvation because the DJT regime shut down USAID and congress did nothing.

Cruelty is behind each "order." I just read about many lawsuits from transgender prisoners challenging the order that they be relegated to the opposite-gender prison--a certain death sentence. And on and on. I cannot express how deeply I loathe this man.

It's horrifying, and not even a blink from the sociopath. In fact, so many killed indiscriminately already. I don't need to list the innocent victims but will point out that if Trump hadn't elevated Charlie Kirk to the very public influencer role he was playing, Kirk, too, would not have been a victim.

There is one thing that ALL MEDIA should be focused on right now and that's the battle between the Trump administration and the courts. Federal judges are getting fed up and threatening contempt charges, the Supreme Court is making unanimous and near-unanimous decisions, BUT NOTHING SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING as far as compliance OR penalties for non-compliance. We need a DAILY scorecard on what's going on here. Nothing in more important right now, because if Trump can defy the courts with impunity, all is lost.

The Trump administration has no use for the Constitution. It stands in the way of achieving his agenda. . Trump believed he had the majority of justices in his pocket and that they would do his bidding. Roberts is smart enough to know that Trump will do his utmost to make them ultimately irrelevant.

A very helpful and clear presentation and analysis of the context and content related to the litigation in lower courts and SCOTUS on the deportation cases. Thank yoi!
