Since 2000, and for the rest of my life, I maintain that Al Gore was cheated out of his rightful presidency by Jeb Bush, the Florida AG at the time and the US supreme court.

Don’t forget John Roberts led the efforts to stop the Florida recount. He was

awarded for his efforts with seat on SCOTUS.

And chief "justice!" What a farce.

David Moscatello's avatar

Yes, that was a SCOTUS-engineered coup.

"Vance has no choices and no escape. He’s handcuffed to Trump and MAGA as they run full-out toward a political cliff."

JD Hillbilly asked for, and got, exactly what he has, a political career forever linked to the most corrupt, incompetent president this country has ever seen. He couldn't get elected dog catcher in Dogpatch, Kentucky.

Just about every nitwit who has tied him or herself has ended up ruining themselves. Reputationally. Many are in jail.

These scandals would sink a great candidate. But JD Vance is a soulless opportunist who reinvents himself constantly based upon what he thinks will sell.

He’s arrogant and when you listen to him talk about his “disadvantaged” upbringing why his ascent to law school the phrase “DEI hire” springs to mind, with all its awful, Republican connotations of someone unqualified who played off his fabricated origin story to invade the ranks of the elite.

And then there’s his personality. Clinton was very likable. As awful as Trump can be his fans love his cruelty, and he entertains them.

People thought Al gore was stuffy. JD Vance is a herpes outbreak in a business suit.

Vance is not especially liked by women. If you insult 1/2 or more of the electorate that’s not a winning strategy.

i still have my t-shirts denouncing JD's childless cat lady remarks. if i need them, i'm ready.

Not to mention, Vance has all the charisma of a file cabinet.

Arkansas Blue's avatar

I would not want to open his drawers🤣!

Good one!

there's no reason to insult file cabinets.

The road is littered with the wreckage of people who affiliated with Don the Con. Somehow he always escapes, and live his hangers on to hold the bag. I think Vance is a smart boy, and I'm surprised that he didn't see that clearly enough to stay as far from Don the Con as he could, instead of signing on to be the First Mate on the SS Trump

I don't disagree. I realize that JD is a guy with a very confused identity issue: drug addled, violent, criminally convicted mother, 5 step fathers, a stranger to his own biological father, a granny who yes, helped and protected him, but also tried to burn her husband alive in front of JD when he was a boy, and KY uncles on Mama's side who took a chain saw to a guy they didn't like. Wow. Can't make this stuff up. Then tries to get some guidance in the Marines, in his so-called jobs that he seemingly couldn't keep, his marriage into a wealthy family, and decides to write a book, criticizing but also trying to explain political thinking in terms of his poor/working class Southern roots. Hypocritically, hates Trump and his way of thinking, but then decides to turn the tide into loving the guy when Peter Thiel and his money enter the picture. He just seems to me that on some levels, he had potential and smarts, but walked down wrong roads for some unknown reasons: money? Power? Confusion? Hatred? I really think if he had had a firm sense of himself, he wouldn't be where he is today. He may find himself in the presidency, who knows, but hopefully, will also be able to go down more positive roads than those he is currently in.

Larry DeLuca commented, “JD Vance is a herpes outbreak in a business suit.” Made my day to laugh out loud like I did.😹 Thanks!

How's that book tour going, "your Eminence"?

Anne Pierce's avatar

Apparently the church shown on the cover is a Methodist church, not a Catholic church, for a book about his conversion to Catholicism. Oopsies.

KnockKnockGreenpeace's avatar

Ironic in a similar way to how Trump's book about saving America has a cover photo of his own staged assassination attempt.

Why do people constantly focus on Biden "disastrous" debate performance? Yes, it was bad but Trump from the time he stalked Hillary on the 2016 stage to his stupid performance with Kamala should have been telling. Biden should have stayed with his promise to be a one term president and we should have had a regular dem primary. But to make it sound as everything hinged on Biden's bad debate performance is just wrong.

Buddy Friend's avatar

Vance like his boss is very shallow. There is no depth in his actions and rhetoric.

donna woodward's avatar

May Vance be a lesson to all sycophants.

I never could have imagined that a person less likeable then the orange faced wannabe dictator-king could exist...... but then vance walked through the door.

thank you for saying that!

In the war this week, there is sure to be only one winner: Iran. And among the losers, Vance is likely to turn out as the biggest. Here’s why: As of now (Monday evening), Vance is being directed to fly tomorrow morning to Pakistan in hopes of again negotiating with the Iranians. He has two choices, both of them bad. If he obeys Trump’s demand, he will end up in the Middle East with no one to talk to, since the Iranians will not be there to meet with him. In fact, the Iranians have every incentive to continue to refuse, because it will give them further credibility with the rest of the world. So there JD will sit, cooling his heels with his thumb up his butt.

His other choice is to refuse to get on the plane, in which case Trump will erupt. Either way will be a political disaster for him. Likewise, Trump will be caught up in worse lies than ever, so he will be a loser as well.

And of course, the image of the US as a loser will be further cemented with the rest of the world. As far as Iran is concerned, what is not to like about this scenario?

WAYNE LARSON's avatar

So as of Tuesday afternoon, Vance is going anywhere, and there are two people with their thumbs up their asses - Vance and his boss Mr. Taco.
