He’s brilliant. Thanks for bringing him on. He commented in the end exactly what I want to hear dems say. Keep the tax cuts on the middle class and small business and can the rest. Then you can keep Medicaid. His explanation of the politics was also so clear and clean. No rhetoric, all substance. Thanks Contrarian for these videos, your written pieces, and all the legal work. You rock.
Jake is my congressional representative and I'm so appreciative of his stance on things. He is working very hard for our district and I've attended several of his town halls. Very lucky that he makes himself available to us! We need more like him in Congress on both sides of the aisle.
I don't blame Chuck. He's in a heads you win, tales I lose situation. Blame the electorate. Blame the ones who sat out the election because of Gaza or whatever. Blame the low info voters, right wing media, MAGA asshats. We were all warned.
Before you say NOOOOOOO about the budget vote....did you find out why some DEMS are voting for it?? I Said NO too- until I heard why. T and M are shutting down the government piecemeal- one agency at a time - And the courts are going against what they are doing- If the government was to shut down, then they would be very pleased- It would be done for them, all at once- and they would only fund and employ what and who they wanted- and if it is a shut down- the courts can do nothing. So the choice for the Dems is a horrible budget for six months while they gather themselves- Or a total government shutdown that they would be blamed for and T would applaud.
A strike would hurt the court cases. If the government was shut down because of not being financed ( which would be very convenient for T- the courts couldn’t intervene because of the circumstances. As T and M close one department after another and enact deportations and other things the court can intervene .
Let her run! Speak for herself. See how much harder it is to govern in the Senate than from the House or tik tok! Same for all the leftie loudmouths. All Dems voted against the CR, but some voted to prevent a filibuster which would have led to a shutdown which would have been worse than the current abhorrent CR. Chuck, Schatz and others who allowed the vote know that. I trust their judgement. Drumpf, Musk, Johnson and spineless Thune would have cheered for a shutdown. They were already blaming the Democrats.
GOP Congressional members have given the power of the purse to the Felon and president Musk because they know their constituents would be up in arms if they voted for such cuts. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has been the worst Leader (whether in the minority or the majority) in my lifetime. Instead of following Moscow Mitch's lead, Schumer constantly relinquishes his power. This has resulted in loss of voting rights, abortion rights, the child tax credit and increased taxes on the top 20%.
I love the idea of holding town halls in all districts. With Republican politicians hiding from voters, it is an excellent opportunity for non-Republican politicians to engage with Americans, to become better known, and to win midterm elections. I also wonder whether the bill could have been "argued" on a point by point basis and whether it could have been revised or broken down by agenda before the Senate voting.
Is there any chance we can clone this man? I am very impressed that one who looks so young and fresh-faced speaks with the gravitas of one much older and wiser.
Where are the other 434 + 100 people (he is the 435th, so don't dox me on my math) like him in this country of over 330 million? Why do we keep getting the same spineless, neutered, old men (and some women, but that is a rant for another day) to "represent" We the People?
Unless a strong and united opposition to Muskrump begins to form, we will find ourselves, like lemmings, rapidly approaching a cliff from which there is very little chance of finding a parachute.
Oh, and Slava Ukraini! (Glory to Ukraine) from a third generation German/Lithuanian American who, at 86 has a very low bullshit threshold.

This Congressman gives me hope. Thank you, Jen, for this interview!

Terrific interview.
What a great addition to Congress. Gives me hope.
Excellent and inspiring interview! Thank-you.

I think Norm said the shutdown would not hurt the court cases. That not having it might actually hurt their cases.
They would be on skeleton crew until money ran out.

Stop Schumer !
Just what we need in these troubled times. Another Democratic own goal.
Time for AOC to run for Senate??

I think progressive candidates will not be popular among many voters.
As much as I like and respect her and would like to see that, it's probably too early. The State of New York has too many deep red pockets.
