Am I a cynic or does anyone else thing the shots fired at Correspondence Dinner were staged?

Frank Beal's avatar

No you’re not a cynic. You are a thinking person questioning how could the security be so bad that a gunman could get in there? Is that remotely plausible?

Linda's avatar

LOL I think that was probably the thought of many people.

David Betts's avatar

What Epstein files?

Tessa Hart's avatar

Who the hell knows!

Tessa Hart's avatar

Sorry didn't mean to seem like I was yelling at you, it's just with this regime, it's impossible to know anything.

ROSE B RINDER's avatar

Absolutely. We can't believe what the goons at the White House tell us anymore. This is part of the autocratic playbook, for sure.

JeffreyS's avatar

Most likely fake. These attempts at trying to change Trump’s narrative have become tiresome. The best everyone can do is ignore it and keep Epstein, Iraq, the tanking economy, state sponsored corruption, free-falling poll numbers, etc. on the front burner.

Very difficult to not believe this is as suspicious as when he got shot with a wound to his ear that left no scar and no reputable news reports afterward

Norm, PLEASE LEAVE! I understand they are reconvening the dinner. Please leave, we will have coverage from the cameras in the room. We need you!

Carolyn Kraut's avatar

I'm surprised that both you and April deigned to attend.

Jill Kaliac's avatar

They attended as activists. They intended to nonviolently get up and leave once Trump was to get up and speak.

Karen's avatar

Please watch the next video with Norm and Carlos. They we're planning to stand up and walk out when Trump began to speak.

Frank Beal's avatar

100%. More than being surprised, I am extremely disappointed. Where is your self respect? “Fake news. Quiet, piggy. Enemy of the people.”

The only reason to attend this would be to stand up and heckle him when he started his screed, but neither Norm nor April were going to do that.

The Contrarian's avatar

Good morning. As stated in our other videos, Norm and April planned a walkout for when Trump began his speech. This dinner is about the press, not the President, and this was their way of both showing solidarity with our media community and resistance against the administration.

Frank Beal's avatar

Thanks for the clarification. I withdraw my comment.

Karen's avatar

In the second clip Norm explained that they were planning to get up and walk out when Donald began speaking. I suspect others in attendance had the same idea.

Tris Barber's avatar

Now they know how our children feel.

Everyone should leave immediately.

Looks like I'm not the only one who finds the timing of the shooting in the lobby at the WHCD oddly convenient for creating the environment for to detract from trump's poor polling/hiding trump-Epstein files/waging an illegal war/open water murders/wasting taxpayer money and such. Sad to say but maybe MTG's speculations have some smoke?

Patient to Purpose's avatar

It’s really disappointing that you attended in the first place.

Karen's avatar

Please watch subsequent video with Norm and Carlos. They were there to protest by standing up and walking out when the idiot began to speak.

Patient to Purpose's avatar

Having a largely empty room would have been infinitely better. I stand by my statement.

Artemisia G's avatar

Yes. WHY was Norm Eisen even there?? I hope Jen Rubin wasn’t or that may be the straw that has me cxl my Contrarian subscription. So disappointed. And very confused. If your goal is to call others out on hypocrisy, best if you yourself aren’t hypocritical.

The Contrarian's avatar

Good morning. As stated in our other coverage, including before the event began, Norm and April planned a walkout for when Trump began his speech. This dinner is about the press, not the President, and this was their way of both showing solidarity with our media community and resistance against the administration. We honor all the different modes of protest here, as it all accumulates to drive the resistance. Thank you for being a Contrarian.

Artemisia G's avatar

I agree.. The dinner WAS about the press. Who have been sane-washing and complicit in this admin , with a few exceptions, and who have shown little solidarity with press all over the world who are being killed for actually reporting. The American press is maybe just as interested in preserving their own little piece of the kingdom and going to support them is tone deaf and hypocritical. IMHO.

Karen's avatar

Norm explained their plan to walk out when the big fat idiot began to speak. Please watch the later video with Carlos.

David Hurwitz's avatar

I hope everyone is okay.

Arkansas Blue's avatar

All, but one. But I have to agree with Barbara Perra (above).

Saying “Lots of kudos to law enforcement and the secret service” for their work protecting people tonight at the White House Correspondents Dinner is ridiculous. They clearly did not do a very good job. Not sure what to expect when the FBI Director thinks multiple shots fired means Jagermiester, Schnapps, and Tequilla are lined up on the open bar.

Klarity's avatar

There is no way I believe this was real. All staged for his own selfish and destructive objectives.

In a statement, the F.B.I. formally confirmed that the suspect in the shooting was in custody. The statement said that the National Capital Response Squad of the bureau’s Washington Field Office had responded to the Hilton.

Karen's avatar

Please watch the second video. Norm was with Carlos and explained their plan to stand up and walk out.

Elvi's avatar

B’H you’re safe!

Lauren's avatar

Norm, you're breaking up a lot. Please take care of yourself. Please talk to a therapist about being in the room.
