I get the emotion here, but an example that modern folks can see is gone...makes it easier to erase history. There was a slave auction block,not very big...one at a time, on a prominent corner in Fredricksburg VA...it is gone now...erased. It was very moving to stand on that block and imagine how the slaves must have felt standing on that stone.
