“Christian Nationalists” are antithetical to Christians. Totally agree with Jen’s guest here. ICE is targeting anyone who isn’t white or Christian. I have family that doesn’t fit that profile even though they’re a legal American citizen that does a lot of travel to the Middle East and abroad.

Well Christian Nationalists aren’t at all about ‘religion’—they are about power and control and for the last 40 or more years, they have slowly but surely taken over our government with the intent to control everyone. The National Prayer breakfast since the 50s have been paid and organized by Christian Nationalists….They did it all under our noses and now most of Trump’s Cabinet are CN and they couldn’t care less about other ‘Christians’. They truly believe that they are god’s chosen and thus, can do no wrong. And the flip on this is—if you aren’t CN, then you aren’t god’s chosen and if you aren’t god’s chosen, then they, CN, who ARE god’s chosen don’t need to care. And there it is in a nutshell as to why they are what we call cruel but they call ‘doing god’s work’….

Thank you for such a sensible conversation on religion, democracy and morality.

Interfaith community alliances are so important in combating theocracy of any stripe. Our country's founders were wise to state that the United States have a separation of church and state. Theocracy is the slippery slope to autocracy. (Note: Have you ever witnessed a loving and kind theocracy?) Finally, no one will ever define my relationship with the All Mighty, whether I worship under the roof of an institution or within the privacy of my own home. Thank you for this important discussion.

Great interview on a very important topic, largely ignored by the mainstream press.

The US Constitution specifically forbids religious nationalism. Nat-Cs are not welcome here.

Jen, thanks so much for this. I am a woman of faith (Christian) and am struggling to find my "ground" in terms of juggling between my life in my little church and integrating with the struggle for our nation's democracy outside of my church. I have actually signed up for participating with the Interfaith Alliance from an e-mail I received, and this is so informative - and gives me an avenue! Again, many thanks! I appreciate all your efforts!

Agreed! A wonderful and inspiring interview.

Rev. Raushenbush has a contagious enthusiasm.

A couple of wow! achievements for Interfaith Alliance -

400% growth in membership this past year

training 100,000 volunteers in non-violent protest and resistance - did I get that right?

spending money to support other democracy defender groups across this country

Love the big tent philosophy that welcomes all good people - religion not required.

I am a paid subscriber but have been having difficulty listening for about one week. The segment begins but stops after a few sentences. If I try to access directly from substack, there is video but no audio. Any suggestions???
