This is no different than an attack by a foreign power. This is a Pearl Harbor moment. We need our military and law enforcement to step in immediately.

David Parrish's avatar

Wow, knew it happened but didn't think it would be so much. Between this and Musk's millions thrown at disninformation, no wonder Dems didn't have a chance.

I somehow suspected there were "unreported" reasons for Trump's win. Having said that,

IT SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN CLOSE in a sane and

rational world...Trump should have lost in a landslide.

So the voting public bare the brunt of the resposibility---duped or not, and the many who chose NOT to vote.

David Parrish's avatar

Well, we know he is an idiot....he's "The Head Idiot".

Hard to tell if he has intelligence, but he kind of seems too senile to be an agent. He has been their useful idiot for years.

Musk is essential element of this administrative coup - his minions are access what should be secure systems and locking out government officials

Our military and law enforcement are complicit

United We Stand's avatar

I don't think so. But, they want us to think this. They are trying to make people believe that they are the majority and that they have a mandate to rule over us. Don't believe it!!

This is a classic good vs. evil. If the good don't win out, it will be the end of civilization. BUT, that's not going to happen. The Magats will fold if challenged. Most are cowardly losers who live in fear of the "others."

Ricardo Grinbank's avatar

Chips ,I don't heard any democrat disputing their claim of "mandate" and "landslide". That's one of the biggest problems we have.

Priscilla Johnstone's avatar

There are actively involved Democrats speaking out (Sen.Elizabeth Warren, AOC,) but they are only covered at MSNBC….very little reference to Dems speaking out in mainstream media, whose owners are busy sucking up to The Felon.🤬

Ricardo Grinbank's avatar

Susan, as Asha said there are clusters of people within the FBI and most likely within the military that are complicit but I won't extend that shame to include everybody. By far most of them, I'm sure, are dedicated and decent patriots doing their job .

Susan C Shea's avatar

Are they? That's a really broad condemnation and it seems to assume ALL military and ALL law enforcement have switched to trumpian authoritarianism. How do we know hoe broadly it's true, and is it possible that there's a majority that doesn't agree and might be thinking about their options to protect the laws and the country?

Angie's avatar

If every single one of them are complicit, then we are now a country of cowards.

Ricardo Grinbank's avatar

Angie, sorry to disagree. Same reply sent to Susan applies to you. You as everybody with common sense and decency is very upset now. Please, reconsider.

Great comment Lisa. Given the certainly of severe repercussions, crisis, chaos and disasters ,some of them tragic following this nominations, I wonder if the democratic leaders and legislators have already in place a plan to prevent deflection of responsibility on the part of this administration and point straight at the responsible people, loud and clear, 24/7. Certainly they are going to try to blame on us. Wake up and be ready. Please!!!

United We Stand's avatar

As the hostile takeover of our government continues, and their wealthy donors disappear, I wonder if the Democratic politicians are making plans to find sanctuary in other countries.

Don’t blame the Republicans YET. We need them to stand up to this illegal, unconstitutional, and totally authoritarian power grab by a few money hungry leaders. I bet even MAGA voters don’t want their private information in government data bases to be used and abused by college students working for Musk. People who know nothing about government, have never been vetted, have no expertise in anything except but making money, and have not sworn the oath of government office - - to defend the Constitution and the people. So write to your Senators and House Representative, whether you have ever voted for them or not, and tell them “We Need You To Act on Behalf of All Citizens”!!

Freedom Lives Inside's avatar

Contact your senators and tell them to oppose this in the strongest terms.

Eve Minson's avatar

But they know that already and no Republican is going to go against Trump

Freedom Lives Inside's avatar

It makes a difference if their phones ring off the hook. Of course they already know. And people can contact their Republican senators too, reminding them that if they collude with these horrible nominations, they’ll have to fight to get re-elected. It just takes a few votes. We must do what we can.

Susan C Shea's avatar

Yes, my House rep said keep those phone lines, emails, and letters coming - don't just sign on to a pro forma message but write your own and someone in their offices will pay attention and count it as serious.

Beth's avatar

We have a GOP majority in our state legislature. A 15 week abortion ban had a hearing in committee this week. Over 12,000 residents registered their opposition to the bill and just under 1,000 registered support. The sponsors of the bill requested the bill be withdrawn. Speaking out in opposition earlier this week contributed to Trump rescinding his federal funds pause. Our voices can make a difference sometimes.

Ricardo Grinbank's avatar

Eve you are 💯 % correct but we can't just give it up. We have to buy time and in the meantime, organize and start defining a message that should be loud and clear.

Eve Minson's avatar

I know but most of the time I’m completely lost as to where my power lies, except in my vote…

Carol Hinkle's avatar

If enough people are articulate and serious, they will hear.

raojenkins's avatar

I wish you were right.

But the folks, many or all backed by billionaires, who are behind the scenes actually running our federal government (into the ground) -- including the new apostolic reformation (NAR), new right, broligarchy, theo bros -- have more or less all said and written explicitly that they want to end democracy and install a dictatorship.

Sherry Rind's avatar

No, they don't know already what their constituents want. We must keep speaking up or the only voices will be MAGA.

raojenkins's avatar

and a hopeful thing is (having grown up in West Texas) I believe most maga voters don't want what we're seeing now

Denise Wallace's avatar

I have contacted several elected Democratic Senators letting them know how awful it is bending the knee to Trump for voting for his nominees instead of offering any resistance. They are so detached from the rank and file members that I believe they have no clue of the anger towards them. All I am asking for is to display a little resistance. I am still in shock over Tammy Baldwin giving a glowing introduction to the new Secretary of Transportation . And voted for him. We are most likely witnessing the end of our democracy aided and abetted by our Democratic senators.

Freedom Lives Inside's avatar

It ain’t over, and no ending is final either. Resist!

Con's avatar

To send an email to your Senator Use your Senators first initial, last name@thesenatorsgroup.com...example jdoe@thesenatorsgroup.com

Hope this helps.

BBerry's avatar

This is beyond HORRIFYING....without the FBI's expertise and experience we are ALL less safe.

Ricardo Grinbank's avatar

Brigid, when the coming tragedy strikes because the institutions designed to prevent such events are being managed by vengeful morons we have to be ready to blame the real guilty people from senators to agencies directors and supporters in general. Our legislators and leaders should be ready for that certain moment.

BBerry's avatar

Agreed, but at what price to us, the American people? That's the part that is worrying.

Ricardo Grinbank's avatar

Rigid when you ,with legitimate concern ask,"at what price to us" I have to honestly say, the price is going to be extremely high. No way around. The way they are infiltrating the institutions and the speed and complicity of the republican senators in confirming the people whose only qualification is loyalty not to a country but to and individual tells you, the fight it's going to be hard and long.

Justin Sayne's avatar

Nothing new. Republicans are enemies of America: only acting in the interest of Republicans, and NOT the country. As such, Republican Senators and Congressmen are in breach of their duty to protect their constituents, and support the Laws, Constitution, and betterment of this country. They are working for an adversary: the Republican Party. As such they are TRAITORS to America!

What can we do?

1) Fight them in Court

2) Expose them as TRAITORS!

3) VOTE them out at the first opportunity!

United We Stand's avatar

You assume that the courts will have an opportunity to hear cases against Trump. You also assume that there will be another fair election.

I think it is a mistake to wait and see how this plays out. The time to action is now.

Don'tStopMeNow/Toni Lawrence's avatar

I agree with you on many counts, but we can't sit back and wait and see. Action is needed, and NOW, before they get in position everywhere.

Bonnie's avatar

There are lots of good Republicans like Michael steel who have been fighting this right wing branch of the Republican Party from the beginning.

It doesn’t help to put everybody in the same basket.

Doug's avatar

Unless you're willing to take up arms, it is my belief that this battle is going to be fought in the courts. To that end, give as much as you can to any entity that takes the federal government to court. If you don't have a favorite, take a look at Democracy Forward (https://democracyforward.org/). They are an umbrella organization that provides funds to a multitude of organizations fighting for us.

DAVID S SCHWARTZMAN's avatar

Like it or not, we might actually have to take up arms, just like the French Resistance and the Jewish Resistance did during WWII.

Beth Morgan's avatar

One issue I haven't seen addressed: what happens if the courts rule against Trump and he says, "who cares," and goes right on with his illegal policies. He has immunity. He can pardon anyone who follows his orders. Musk has the $$ to pay fines. Or they have the treasury pay the fines.

Melanie Reed's avatar

I have seen this nightmare possibility discussed at The Bulwark. The Supreme Court has created a supreme mess.

United We Stand's avatar

I would argue that the Supreme Court knew what was coming when they gave immunity (subject to their approval) to the president. i.e. the Supreme Court has the ultimate power to decide if the president deserves immunity. That was fundamentally uncontsitutional.

Pam Krieps's avatar

Yes, what can we do? and What is being done?

Emily Ellet's avatar

Please provide transcripts for those of us who don't have the luxury of watching video!

Ricardo Grinbank's avatar

I remember seeing the same reply before. Are you a social worker or IT ?

Just kidding 😁.

Anne-Louise Luccarini's avatar

Both, I guess (also just kidding!) I started with a lengthy explanation, now I just copy/paste whenever someone complains about no transcript.

Judith P's avatar

I completely agree with some of the commenters here - what can we do? Please do

not post a red flag warning without an action list. Realizing that perhaps an action list was given within the interviews, it would be most helpful to have them written as well for those of us who might not have time to listen to the interviews. In fact,, I would appreciate a transcript of all the interviews, as I am a reader rather than a watcher

Because the Republican Congress has laid down its responsibilities, it seems that unless we can get red state to start raising a ruckus to their Congress people, it is difficult to know where our powers lie.

By the way I was able to sign into my Social Security account so whoever posted that please try again. There’s enough bad news out there and things to be concerned about without creating unnecessary turmoil.

Thea's avatar

Actions speak louder than words 🙏

Judith P's avatar

Indeed - and when we maximize them as a community - maybe power happens.

SSA and Disability retirement is paid from the trust fund. Last year about $ 22 billion. Doesn't come from general revenue. SSI, on the other hand does. Incredibly even many members of Congress are ignorant and do not recognize that the trust funds are a separate entity.

I've been trying to send the following to the WH.

Use charitable deductions to save the SSA retirement Trust Fund.

The default of Trust Funds is supposed to apex in 2033 due to the increase of birth rates of baby boomers. After 2033, birth rates of later generations flatten and the funds can be solvent.

Social Security is the greatest anti-poverty program in US history. Social Security protects workers, widow(er)s, orphans and disabled people and is a major investment for many of us. Donations can flatten the default curve, extending the apex.

https://www.ssa.gov/agency/donations.html

Why doesn't SSA advertise that donations can flatten the curve and extend the default date beyond 2033?

Mary Cadieux's avatar

so important and valuable, but would really like a transcript, not just the AV post...cannot always watch & listen, prefer to read.

SSonwater's avatar

I send a link to these interviews to my senators. Everyone else can do the same, especially red states.

Personally I think Trump is a Russian agent and facist. Musk is a Nazi and facist. Those being put into cabinet positions. My advice for federal employees or agents. DO NOT LEAVE. MAKE THEM GO THRU THE LEGAL STEPSTONES TO GET RID OF YOU. MAKE IT HARD. RESIST.

Craig's avatar

We have a hostile takeover of our country. See this link:

https://www.reuters.com/world/us/musk-aides-lock-government-workers-out-computer-systems-us-agency-sources-say-2025-01-31/

Musk and his team have access to all government employees PII and are taking control of the "Accounts Payable" of all of our Federal government.

THIS IS NOT A JOKE. THIS IS A FIVE ALARM FIRE.
