What a compelling human being. Makes me hopeful.

Lucky us to have him willing to run for the Senate.

Absolutely. Broken health care system.

Remembering the fight that Obama had to enact a health care version of what R Romney had backed in Massachusetts, we need Ds with fight to get real, long past due, health care reform.

It is great to see Iowa featured, and I am impressed by Josh. He knows his stiff, and he speaks with personal authority. Thanks, Jen and thanks to you, Josh.

It is unbelievable that a district with 65% of the population has been voting for the orange felon with double digit margins! That shows how stupid voters are. Josh Turek sounds like he is really for Jane and John Doe and if I were living in Iowa, I would vote for him. I did make a donation to him and I hope he wins.

Thanks for donating to him. I hope he wins too.

There are several reasons voters vote the way they do. The first is habit. If they don't know much about someone, they pull the lever for the party they support (channeling my tenth grade history teacher here).

Another reason is their community - family, friends, social groups, churches, and other local organizations hold great sway in shaping opinions. I suspect this is the reason why my grandparents voted against FDR, even though his banking policies helped them save their farm!

Don't discount the tremendous power of propaganda either. In many rural areas, the only voices on the radio are conservative ones. It started with Rush Limbaugh and metastasized from there. Once plugged into the Maga universe, it's very difficult to disconnect.

Finally, let's recall that Democrats stopped supporting candidates in all fifty states a long time ago, and ceded the ground to their opposition. Voters are left with the choice of one local candidate or not voting at all, which of course is not a choice at all.

Going back to Josh Turek, he won because he has stood up for his constituents. He told them, personally, how he'd look out for them, and so they voted for him. Given all the factors above, their voting patterns make sense. They don't sound "stupid" to me. If we are to win hearts and minds, it starts with welcoming the disillusioned, frustrated, angry former supporters into the tent. They've been misled and targeted with an avalanche of propaganda. Welcome them to reality.

Excellent analysis of voting patterns.

I am glad that candidates are being given a voice and being profiled. The more we know, the better positioned 2026 & 2028 will be to "rescue" the country. Democrats should follow what Turek said: ...I didn't talk about the culture war issues. I talked about the kitchen table issues." Please feature more and more of resistance candidates.

Anyone is better than Joni Ernst at this point. I wish Josh Turek great success!

I’ve made mine, too! Definitely sounds like someone I’d vote for if I lived in Iowa! As a matter of fact, I’d love to send my Virginia ballot to the Elections Office ….. hmmmm……..

There's talk about farmer bailouts in a repeat of what T did in 2020.

I know nothing about farm/agriculture policy so I react negatively to talk about bailouts.

I assume Josh would support bailouts. Help me understand why.
