What happened to the budget that was to be in place by the end of the fiscal year? What happened to congressional oversight of tariffs? They aren't up to the president to use as a cudgel to get concessions from affected countries. What happened to any oversight of the White House for investigating the pay-to-play and/or upcoming quid pro quo for the private funding of what is to effectively become a private building built on federal land? There are many more actions that Congress should be taking; these are just a few that should get their attention. Instead, we have an incredible showing of incompetence, lack of interest in governance, or both.

A very clearheaded, encompassing interview with Rep. Jake Auchincloss. He very, very clearly outlines what Congress could/should be doing and how oversight has devolved over decades to a pitiful trickle. He understands that strength comes from seeing various points of view. And last, but not least, I TOTALLY agree with him that the Epstein situation is NOT what needs to be the focus of government. We need economy, security, law, and environment to be the focus of leaders everywhere. Get to work!

"Where is Congress" is the whole story.

Ever since Korea - yeah, I've been around that long - Congress has abandoned its war making responsibilities. Easier to let the Executive Branch take the heat and pay the price. The long abdication has proceeded from there.

Repeal the War Powers Act, repeal Citizens United, rescind Executive immunity and all the trappings of the unitary executive, reestablish Congress as an active, engaged, part of our national government that's willing to make the decisions and take the heat. Show citizens that with their vote they actually have skin in the game. Make town meetings a mandatory feature of governance - you show or you go.

I have a feeling most Democratic leaders - and maybe the few remaining Republicans - would welcome the opportunity to actually make a difference.

Trump is a creep he’s definitely got that right. Most everything he said was on point.

Good interview, Jen, with Rep. Auchincloss on what our Congresspeople should get back to doing and paying attention to, etc.
