I’m in the Great Smoky Mountains just outside Knoxville Tennessee as I read this sometimes there are forest fires here. If there’s no public media to warn people then we’re in a heap of trouble. Forest fires wouldn’t be that unusual here especially since Eastern Tennessee has been exceptionally dry. Trees in this area are under stress and have shed a good many leaves 🍁 hoping to see more autumn colors in the deep woods!

The saying goes, God helps those who help themselves. If Trump voters can’t or won’t look after their own interests either by self-education or by abandoning a losing cause, I don’t see how we can save the country other than by advocacy and the franchise. It is weary, plodding work over the long run, even with bursts of joy like Kings Day, so it requires stamina more than magic bullets (eg, the Epstein files). Public media is a vital part of our democracy, but has always been dependent on public support, even with government assistance, and the public will have to save it now, fundraiser after fundraiser.

Used to buy at Walmart for things that were lost leaders - TP, detergent, soda, etc. Quit that a year or two ago. Now I buy all from progressive grocery. Bills were around $70, now they are routinely above $100, more like $120. I give to state and world food banks. I am going to donate time to state food bank, infectious disease worries be damned. NJ race already handed to democrats. tRump and his evil ilk are going down. Praise jesus. Here we go. New government - nouveau government. We’ll show you MAGA, we are already great!

Well, isn't that exactly the object of the orange felon's game? To keep his sheep as ignorant as possible? If people die, because they didn't receive warnings, so what? They are poor white trash in his opinion. What he and his whisperers are not thinking of: they ARE white folks voting for him and his ilk. In the end, he is working against his own best interests: reducing the white population even more.

The GOP will reap what they are sowing: NOTHING. The GOP will go out like a light

I have seen or heard "Brought to you by Robert Wood Johnson Foundation" on my local PBS station to recognize it. Yes, it is getting harder to receive actual news and emergency information information. And I do not know why we should have to be kept in the dark for emergency situation news.

That’s the current Republican administration shutting out the lights, indifferent to the plight of rural Americans. No one should be kept in the dark. Critical information is essential and should be shared on a timely basis, especially in the case of emergency situations.

I don’t have a lot of sympathy for the bumpkins, morons, Yahoos, misogynists, bigots, racists, rubes and boobs of rural America. They got what they were voting for even if they were too stupid to know they were voting for it.

I understand that if you're trying to get people to change their minds and move over to your own point of view, calling them stupid isn't the most effective way to do it! But I guess I figure that there aren't too many bumpkins, morons, etc here, and even if there were, I'm not trying to change anyone's mind

Sorry Virginia race, not NJ yet.
