Wow, Azza; I can feel your disquiet and downright anger, which I share, coming through on this topic. It's MY MONEY and my reputation at stake here, and all of ours, as well.

As someone whose only social media contact is in discussing the news on legitimate news sites like the Contrarian, I tend to give no credence to a president who spends so much time trolling. But on an official website? This is like Trump's goons trying to force airports to televise messages blaming Democrats for a government shutdown that their unrepresentative and unserious budget proposals triggered. It's also in line with the propaganda that has now taken the place of medical information on the official CDC website--which we also all pay for and need to trust.

Color me pissed. I'm really glad you mentioned this, and isn't it part of a pattern of a backward-looking regime? MySpace, indeed.

Call the White House switch board and complain. The WH website should reflect the dignity and professionalism of federal service to American citizens and showcase the premier government website. This is not a MAGA version of The Onion. The Trump admin obviously does not take its duties to the nation (nor their oaths to protect and defend the Constitution) seriously.

Love calling the switchboard! You go Linda! You can also submit comments at this website: whitehouse.gov/contact

Thanks, and I will use your language. Since when is taunting considered governing?

The White House is ours not his. Thanks for calling this out. This information needs to be in the mainstream media but they don’t report this stuff. Only legitimate independent journalists are reporting facts. Thanks Azza

If you feel so inclined you can let the government know you are disappointed by submitting a comment 😇 https://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/

Just checked the site. Still up and running without any apology or explanation, accessible from the whitehouse.gov site. I couldn't get a history of the White House on that site, but could get this miserable middle school assault on Democrat legislators (who incidentally, as far as I know, are not 34 x felon, nor have they killed any Venezuelan fisherman). Where's the outcry??? The only way I could comment was to give all my information in an email. Decided that was stupid. (of me)

Azza Cohen's avatar

I know it’s insane!!

Becky O A's avatar

This is a travesty!! I would expect it from Fox News but not with my tax dollars. Whoever can file a complaint needs to do so immediately, or tell us how to flood the site with complaints. Thanks for exposing it.

Azza Cohen's avatar

I will look into this!!

Seriously?! The official White House website? I need to go check it out because even in these depraved times, I find it almost unimaginable. But then, I found it almost unimaginable ( the qualifier is because the sitting president is unhinged and out of control) that the East Wing of our White House could be bulldozed.

Azza Cohen's avatar

It’s the internet equivalent of destroying the east wing

Whitehouse.gov has been a pretty revolting joke for a while now. Try this simple hack: Go to the contact page. Fill in whatever you feel like filling in. Leave your comment and then don't close the browser. It will give you an acknowledgment, but then when you refresh it, all your information will still be there. I send cut and paste commentary a couple of 3 times a week. Just to remind him, I'm still here. And I'm still american unlike his sorry ass

KnockKnockGreenpeace's avatar

Doing that! Thanks for the brilliant idea.

Love this thank you Claudine!

If it wasn't so wrong, it would be a SNL skit. Lately, government websites need guarding against, from the WH dreadfulness to the HHS vaccine/autism fiasco. More than ever, people need to hunt for truth and become educated/skeptical/informed.

KnockKnockGreenpeace's avatar

But while "doing your own research" is necessary, don't fall for the bloggers who tell you that they read all the news so you don't have to. I prefer actual journalists elevating topics of interest and adding to our knowledge and opening a discussion.

The Contrarian itself, though, has reprinted articles from such "helpful" parsers as Josh Levs who promise to help you cut through all the thinking to find the truth. The Contrarian chat is glutted with low-experience pundits eager to regurgitate the news along with their opinions, positioning their contributions as helpful to poor, busy readers--if only you will visit their Substack page. I find Azza's approach much more organic, and respectful of our intellect.

I read Contrarian articles, along with Tangle, NYT, WSJ, AP, Reuters, Bloomberg, NPR. I watch a variety of network daily news, along with BBC, CNN, MSNOW, C SPAN et cetera, et cetera. Does that work for you?

KnockKnockGreenpeace's avatar

I was agreeing with your call for people to hunt for truth while cautioning folks not to believe everyone who purports to do that for you. I'm seeing more and more Substack bloggers who devote themselves to that. Have a great weekend!

How despicable this president is! He has no respect for anything or anyone except his dictator buddies… and really it’s more envy than respect. Following their lead, he has demeaned the presidency, the government, and the country.

Sorry, I can’t bring myself to waste time with the White House website. I appreciate y’all doing that for me. Saves me a lot of money on mental therapy.

KnockKnockGreenpeace's avatar

:) There is a time when "doing your own research" only hurts your brain.

I recently retired from Fed government (US Army Corps of Engineers), so I keep up on other websites and Reddit to stay informed, especially regarding coastal projects. But the level of dumbing down by DOD and executive branch in general just guts me at times.

I appreciate your perspective and enjoy reading your posts, btw.

KnockKnockGreenpeace's avatar

Oh, I get you! I gave up on our government websites being reliable sources of information, and so I don't bother with headlines every other day telling us that the CDC now questions vaccine protocol etc. I hope that less-savvy Americans know how to find out what's true. And being gutted? Nearly everything I have worked for in my life and hold dear has either been threatened or destroyed by this ignoramus whose low self-esteem dictates that no one can be smarter than him--so he thinks.

You can't destroy or unravel expertise, no matter how much you denigrate it. And those of us not guided by hatred have no use for those who are. Thanks so much for checking in. It's a real boost.

Azza Cohen's avatar

Thanks so much, Kat. You gotta protect your peace my friend! And thank you for your years of service.

Take a few minutes to browse through the new White House website. It is not full of useful info for citizens, as it was originally. Now, it is a MAGA propaganda site.

Azza Cohen's avatar

Exactly. Sadly.

H/t to reader Claudine for this idea !
