I am neither a Republican or Democrat. I am a Decent-tarian. I support decency in our country and world. Competence, too. Trump, and his acolytes, are neither.

THAT’s what motivates me to support your EXCELLENT work at the Contrarian.

Thanks!

Your coffee clatches are one of the only high spots of the day! I am so glad to be a CONTRARIAN ❤️😊

Per Dr. Spencer Wells, we’re all decendents from the proverbial Adam, circa 60,000 years ago and the proverbial Eve, circa 200,000 years ago. Cosmic Cousins?

I agree with you 100%. But these excellent writings must produce a real result of stopping Trump. Federal Appeals court just allowed Trump to continue playing with tariffs and The Economists warned that American finance and the hence the world can be heading to a disaster. Trump is succeeding in destroying America while we are enjoying reading opinions.

Justin Sayne's avatar

Couldn’t agree more, Hiro. Americans elected a wrecking ball of their own destruction. Makes no sense. Our only hope is: turning the Legislature to a Democratic majority in 2026. Meanwhile, we have to hope that the Judiciary can hold the Ruination in check. 🙏🙏🤞🤞

1/3 of our country voted for this and another 1/3 doesn't vote at all - not sure how any of this wins back in 2026

The appeals court is only an administrative stay. A temporary keeping of the status quo while they consider the case on the merits. Don't be fooled by the media. It's not a win for Trump.

Thank you for clarification. Please keep writing.

Hiro, I strongly agree with you. Everyone, Everyone!!, needs to get out and protest loudly, persistently, and increasingly. We must disable the dismantling of our country, without violence but with unflagging purposefulness. This has to happen, ASAP.

I'm a Contrarian because I love my country and respect our history too much to have it trashed by an ignrorant, grifting buffoon. He wants to mess with the USPS? Ben Franklin created the Post Office! The nerve. He tramples on the Constitution? Our founding fathers wrote that. We CANNOT have a grifting, lying, stealing, career loser at literally everything he's tried undermine the Constitution or threaten the democracy millions of Americans have died defending. I stand behind Norm and Jen and their excellent team of experts, and I'll keep subscribing, even after we rid ourselves of the Trump menace. And WE WILL rid ourselves of him. The Contrarian gives me hope, and I'm grateful Jen and Norm joined forces to lace up the gloves and step into the ring with the forces who would destroy this great nation.

When I heard that Jen Rubin was writing here, I had to join. When I learned that Norm Eisen was leading legal cases using Contrarian resources, I had to become a founding member. Carry on. We’ve got your backs.

I am a contrarian because truth is not a commodity to be bought or sold and is vital to democracy. My opinion may not be based on truth if there are not journalists who seek tot ell the truth. My journalism prof in college pushed us with factual reporting. He made us all fact checkers of each other. if our class assignment news stories were not based on facts we were flunked. I am a Contrarian because the trumpanistas believe lies are how to be faithful. We need the honesty of the Contrarians to make sure democracy lives!

If one word can say it --- it's trumpanistas. I just love it.

It even puts our Republican elected officials just where they stand...

as party to a dictatorship. Perfect. Thank you.

You rule! We rule! We the people! Thank you for all you do!

I am a Contrarian (1) because as a retired journalism professor I have spent my career fostering independent, courageous, honest journalism; and (2) because as your Jamie Riley put it, when my nephews, nieces and “grands” ask what I did when authoritarianism came to America, I’ll be able to say that I was part of the media resistance. I was a Contrarian.

Thank you 1000 times for all of the articles - and all full of Truth.

I've always been"contrarian" as my mother would tell you if she were still here...-Mary Mary, Quite Contrary... my husband and kids and grandkids would probably say the same...but seriously, I am so grateful for the work you are doing on behalf of justice and democracy-the dominating forces of my nature and my upbringing...Thank you so much for what you are doing and your positive approach and hopeful natures while doing so...

MMK's avatar

Our mothers must have used the same play book-another Mary who was called contrary.

We should form a "Mutual Admiration Society"...LOL

Count me in too. My dad would recite, "There was a little girl, Who had a little curl, Right in the middle of her forehead. And when she was good, she was very, very good and when she was

bad she was horrid." That's when we had to courage to speak the truth.

You’re in! Welcome to the club😄

The moment I saw that Jen was leaving the Washington Post to launch a venue for fierce and honest reporting i knew I wanted to join. I am really proud to be a Contrarian! And with the bonus of being able to support Norm Eisen's outstanding legal work!

Barbara Morrison's avatar

Yes, this is my reason for joining as well. Having cancelled my WaPo subscription out of disgust, I needed a news outlet I could trust. The Contrarian fills the bill.

Signe K.'s avatar

Here's the simple recipe: Show Up. Do Something. In February I started a local (Space Coast FL) chapter of Indivisible with 8 people on my mailing list. Now we have over 200, active and engaged Contrarians.

Katherine P Duncan's avatar

I originally joined The Contrarian because I have been reading Jennifer Rubin's articles for years, and have great respect for her, much less for the Washington Post after the Bezos buyout. But when I also realized that Norm Eisen and other authors, political cartoonists and reporters whom I have followed landed here, I was thrilled!! Contrarians, by nature I believe, will speak out against a corrupt status quo even when there is great pressure to just "go along with the flow". I am, as my Eastern Kentucky folks would say, 'right proud' to be accounted a member!!

Christine Bullen's avatar

I look for ways to make a difference in this crazy world we find ourselves in and The Contrarian is one excellent answer. I am proud to be supporting the litigation and the education you are providing for all of us. Carry on!

Christine Visick's avatar

THANK YOU for all you’re doing for this country, for everyone who cares and for those who don’t realize the peril we face. You rock!

Jennifer, Norm, et al,

Democracy is a form of government if you can keep it. Supporting Contrarian is the least i can do in support of our democracy. We are n this together. Peace.

We believe in your mission to protect our precious democracy and to join with folks who are willing to fight for it. We love your energy and your optimism. We love that you work so incredibly hard on behalf of all of our country and how much fun you have while doing it. Thank you. Bless you and our country♥️🇺🇸
