I just can't imagine anyone with even a trace of dignity, class, or self-respect appearing on a reality TV show.

And Don the Con Trump is living, breathing proof that money can't buy dignity, nor can it buy class.

Yeah, it seems that these shows are just a continuation of things like the Jerry Springer show -- dedicated to promoting the worst of human nature.

I don't understand why people watch ANY "reality" shows. Don't they have enough drama in their own lives? Besides, I think most of these "reality" shows are scripted for sickos being watched by other sickos.

I remember watching about 10 minutes of "Big Brother" when it first aired umpteen thousand years ago and all I could think was, "why don't you people get a life?" Haven't watched one since, especially since I haven't owned a TV since 2017

"Since it first exploded a quarter century ago, reality TV has placed a premium on messy personal drama and turned countless poorly-vetted fame-seekers "

Ah, the glorious world of clap-trap television. ABC may be out $70 million, but we are spared another brainless unrewarding and vapid piece of dreck. People like Paul don't deserve to be rewarded for bad behavior. Let's see some better quality family entertainment from our TV sets.

I’m watching dvd Perry Mason. Lordy, that gets trashy enough for me. So misogynistic…The woman is always the suspect and sometimes she is guilty, but mostly it is “the man”. I mute all the repubs on face the nation - if I ever run into Margaret O’Brien, I will spit on her shoes. Even the local cbs news has pandered to the combover creep. Somehow they make the weather report partisan. That’s why I love my substack crowd. See you Saturday - rain for us. I’ll wrap my signs in plastic. Good luck.

Perry Mason was written in the thinking of the time. So were all of the shows from Father Knows Best to Leave it to Beaver. We have progressed socially, but don't see it represented too well on the current TV offerings - at least not the ones on broadcast TV. The best non-partisan weather forecast come direcly from the National Weather Service site on the internet. In spite of the loss of funding, PBS still does better than most with the news, as does the BBC. On Substack, we have The Contrarian, The Guardian, and various writers like Dan Rather, Heather Cox Richardson, Paul Krugman, and Robert Reich.

My sign is ready for Saturday, and so am I.

Reality TV is heavily edited, in addition to casting participants to play specific types.

I used to watch the fashion series Project Runway. There was one season in which a person who was obviously struggling with some emotional issues was cast. It became uncomfortable to watch a human being treated as fodder for cheap, phony drama.

Here's a thought.

Don't watch shit stuff like this or the "housewives of I don't care where"

If there were no viewers, these shows would not survive. Just like we're responsible for whom we elect, we are responsible for what we want for entertainment.

Has she been contacted by AG Pam Blondi yet to become a US attorney? I'm sure that the President thinks she would be a perfect replacement for Halligan or Habba. To him, she's "got talent."

Reality TV was apparently created for two purposes. One, to NOT pay writers and actors. And two, to degrade society to the point that many Americans would vote for someone as obviously skeevy, bigoted and corrupt as Don the Con. Like many Contrarians, I've never watched the dreck, so it's not our fault.
