I am so glad Susan Monarez stood up to RFK Jr and the Fascist Nazi in charge. When politicians meddle in scientific affairs we all get burned. I am also not surprised by the backlash that has ensued over this matter. There may well be other departures coming soon besides those from Wednesday of this week. This is something that cannot be ignored. No ethical scientist or doctor would ever accept that job so it may be difficult to find a replacement until either Bobby Kennedy goes or Donald Trump goes. It may very well mean the demise of both of them. That wouldn’t be so bad.

See my Post Doctors vs Lawyers: The Difference. All CDC workers involved in heath care will be constantly tormented by the inability to do their job properly.

About RFK,Jr.'s craziness: this winter my husband and I both got the flu. We had gotten our flu shots.

I have never been as sick as I was this winter. We both ended up taking a short course of steroids to get rid of a horrible cough. No appetite and severe fatigue. This flu virus was really a bad one.

I will still get a flu shot this winter, and we are eligible for thr covid booster due to our age. If we have to get it from our primary care doc we will.

I am so angry that Trump chose a msn with NO health expertise who lied at his confirmation hearings. Not only is RFK, Jr. unqualified, he actively seeks to purge thr CDC of medical professionals.

Having no expertise is Trump's main criteria for appointing cabinet members. They're ALL dangerously immoral and highly incompetent bootlickers.

Everyone should call their lawmakers to insist that RFK Jr. resign immediately! Our very lives are at stake. Start insisting on accountability of the yahoos that they confirmed as Cabinet members. They are ignorant in the areas where they are appointed. As a result, we are losing our best and brightest agency leaders. It will take decades to rebuild.

There is a backlash some of us will not lose hope. The Nazi did not win. Challenge yourself.

We all have agency regarding our government. We just have to use it. Learned helplessness is what the authoritarians in Washington are counting on. There are literally hundreds of protests happening around the country this weekend. Go join one.

I mean literal death, financial and human, from the policies of DJT and RFK

these "people" are in charge, put there by millions of idiot americans. I think we all need to realize that. The midterms will determine if America continues...make no mistake about that.

Good points brought up by Xavier and Jen. Xavier has a great background and will hopefully continue to serve the people. These days it is embarrassing to say I live in TX but a lot of us are trying to get people out to vote who may have given up.

As a veterinarian/ veterinary pathologist and virologist, I am grateful some vaccines will be available but it is a travesty to not vaccinate children and pregnant people, everyone or all who wishes for one should get it. This is covid I am talking about. We have no idea of the incidence because no one is reporting. Why is this? There is short staff, people do not test thinking they have a cold and if it is positive they do not report to their doctor AND they come to work sick. The new strain is more infective.

They are not insisting on children to be vaccinated for childhood diseases like measles which can be deadly or severely debilitating. The avian flu concerns me. There is no reporting how many animals and people are affected. Plans for working on a vaccine have stopped. We are completely not prepared or trying to prepare. It is terrifying!

Jen, all good enough, but aren't you serving up soft lob questions, seemingly prearranged, and, if so, are you fulfilling your promise and responsibility? Yeah, still love you both!

I’m a contemporary Elder. Elders have a highly reliable capability to predict the broader future. Elders have lived the cycles, so they can accurately predict what’s going to happen. Personally, after 14 presidents, 4 pandemics, 13 recessions, and 4 wars with U.S. boots on the ground, I can recognize trends and patterns on which to base my predictions. So far, I've been reasonably accurate.

First prediction: Before Trump’s term is over, we will have a pandemic of some sort. People will die as a result. The barrier to preventing pandemics, the CDC, is gone, which makes my prediction dependable.

Second prediction: Trump will take zero responsibility for its occurrence and do the usual —blame and shame. Congress will do the same. More people will die.

I believe you saw the cycle firsthand with Trump and COVID. Elders know that cycles repeat.

marching around is OK...let's all know we don't like what's going on...voting is the only thing that will change our situation
