Oregonian here. WE'LL LET TRUMP KNOW we need his help the next time we have to evacuate due to wildfires. You know, he can come to our rescue with the tax money we fronted him.
Gone are the early days when our spirits would be buoyed by a righteous judicial decision such as the decision from Judge Immergut. Famous for "simply untethered to the facts". Now it is almost with sadness that we give a nod to Judge Immergut as courageous and principled because we have seen how little judicial decisions and rule of law matter to this President.
Certainly, I am deeply grateful to Judge Immergut and to her numerous colleagues who have risen to the moment with equally righteous judicial opinions. They have done all that we could ask of them and yet it is not enough. Yup, you and me, ordinary Americans, have to do our part as well. See you October 18th.
A wonderful review -- using a perfect example of the Portland situation -- capturing exactly the danger we are in, with a president whose thoughts and reasoning are out of touch with reality, who controls the military, and no longer has patriotic adults anywhere near him. Because he is unhinged, and probably believes some of the lies he tells, our perilous circumstance really calls for the 25th amendment. Unfortunately, the Cabinet is full of lackeys, who are lacking in ethics, courage, and respect for fellow citizens and the law.
The OCF is obviously controlled by Chief Nazi Miller. What would prevent Miller and his cronies in the White House to also control the OCF's television viewing? They are probably running the 2020 George Floyd protests all over the US on continuing loops just for the OCF's viewing pleasure.
True, but that will not happen as long as Congress and the entire fascist party are populated by nothing but gutless wonders. If I remember correctly, the 25th has to be invoked by his cabinet. That's a laugh.
Yeah, getting rid of him would only make a slight dent in the problem. Vance, the cabinet and his advisors are just as crazy or even crazier. And since much of this stuff is being conceived and pushed by them I don't know how much better off we would be. The only positive would be that Republicans in Congress are more scared of Trump than they are of the rest of them so we might get some minimal pushback from them.
I remain completely baffled and somewhat unhinged by reading the numerous articles like this one. The final conclusion by the author rests on a grave of swampy ground. His conclusion about the state of our nation rests in "Sadly, that seems to be where we are. A president operating on outdated information, fantasies, and a lust for power is in command."
Sir, Donald Trump is not alone in this coup. Many, many others support every move that he is told to make, or that he fantasizes he can make. He has the Republican Party's Congress and the SCOTUS fully behind every word he speaks. There is no such thing as "outdated information," which, to me, would indicate the possibility of error! There is no such thing here as "fantasies"!
Somehow, even after all we have seen in just 9 months, you seem to think that we actually still have some kind of governing body in our country, where Courts and political statements by Democrats mean anything. I find it saddening that this is all you can say about what is actually happening! You do not use the words Dictator, or Dictatorship, or Authoritarianism! You do not speak of resegregation and the loss of free speech and the right to assemble peacefully, and what that means.
Finally, you do not mention that we are in a Civil War, and that we need to openly discuss who can lead us in this battle for democracy! Thus far, all we read are words, phrases, and historical repetitions of various events! No one is standing up and saying what must be said to motivate the population to fight the battles we have already lost! Your words are hollow, and worse, they are worthless!
