The republicans own all three branches of government.

Simple math — the republicans will shut down the government. They will have to live with the consequences.

The shutdown has been the Republican plan all along. Why else would they "control" the House and Senate and not pass a single appropriation? Republicans rammed the One Big Ugly Bill down our throats, and knew all along what Russell Vought was going to do.

Republicans -- the Party of Bad Faith. You can't trust them for a moment.

You are absolutely correct

But we'll live with them first :(

Can they really run a government on blame? Because I don't remember that getting much done.

So ... it appears the government is already shut down, as according to Rep. Scott, all Republicans have left session, and therefore, there cannot be a vote on the budget unless they hop on Scotty's transporter and get back to DC by Monday. Dems say they'll be there waiting.

Thanks so much for the news, April, as we are a federal worker household who otherwise would not be important enough to know that we will either be fired or not receive that next paycheck, and the next, and the next... This is the kind of respect that we get from a president who demands actual respect for nothing. And this is the kind of assist that we get from Congress, who will get paid regardless. Middle finger right back atcha, Rs.

Of all the harmful policies Republicans have passed, it doesn’t appear to me they’ve suffered many consequences. Their propaganda network has created an alternative universe where they become the champions of working Joes.

They’ll eviscerate the federal workforce during this shutdown and will be hailed as champions. Trump and Vought will do unprecedented damage and suffer no consequences.

Democrats have no way of communicating with the average American. The right is able to fill the void. The republicans know voters will not understand what they’ve lost for many years.
