Hi folks! Thanks to The Contrarian for running this piece along with my new episode. For more on what the media keeps getting wrong and what we can do about it, join me over at https://theystandcorrected.substack.com
I completely agree that ..."It’s also important to emphasize that more vetting of this shooter might have made no difference. We don’t yet know the motivation for his attack." I believe [although I don't really know] that this is an example of mental illness.
A few details have crept out about severe difficulties affecting the family (wife and five children - five!) which makes a mental breakdown possible and likely.
Good points, Josh Levs, on the necessity for truthfulness and fact checking of news. And for this story in particular with wildly made up numbers by Trump, differences between unknown immigrants and those approved to be here, vetting and so on. I am often saying to my spouse or myself while reading or watching the news that "they" didn't explain a falsehood or context.
I've said this before...the media doesn't provide truth because they have decided to work under a false definition of journalistic integrity. They have decided that all news should be even-handed and they tie stories in knots trying to be non-partisan. Unfortunately this is not how things work. Things are very often black & white. Trying to force them to be gray doesn't do anyone any good and it's not the media's job to do that. The truth is not partisan...
"Today, President trump alleged that several democrats committed sedition..." No...he DIDN'T "allege" anything, he LIED! That's the truth. There is no gray area there because the Democrats demonstrably DIDN'T commit sedition. A reporter is suppose to tell it like it is even if the truth is harsh...which it often is around this regime.
I understand that they are often under pressure from idiot owners or publishers or the White House to soften things or even ignore certain aspects of a story and they might be pressured to not do anything to harm access to the White House but what good is access if you can't tell the truth? If you don't report the truth you, also, are a liar and you have no integrity, journalistic or otherwise. Is it worth it?
Good grief. The media has made hay (and profit) from all of Trump's off-the-wall noise since 2015. Besides The Apprentice, the legacy media was responsibile for giving this man a free soap box to carry on from since the very beginning. SHAME. Where is responsible journalism and editing? We were sold a bill of goods.
Trump's admin in 2020 signed a withdrawal/surrender agreement with the Taliban. The Taliban agreed not to attack US forces as long as US forces were withdrawn in 2021. The Taliban immediately surged attacks on the Afghan army. The deal virtually guaranteed the collapse of of the Afghan army once the US forces completed withdrawal in 2021. The media elides over the Trump surrender & focuses on the inevitable problems on withdrawal.
Yup. I discuss that in the episode too. The deal included no protections for Afghans who helped the United States. It didn't even seem to occur to anyone in the Trump administration to build that in.

Thank you! 😊

That's one possibility at this stage, yup!

You are most welcome.

The media constantly does this.!!
Yup. That's why I'm always inundated!
Very thorough but please inform us of the number of immigrants who crossed the line to gain entry AND WHAT WAS THE NUMBER THE BIDEN ADMIN DEPORTED?
Thanks! As for crossing lines, while it's impossible to know an exact number, I provided the best available figures in this episode: https://theystandcorrected.substack.com/p/immigration-lies-drugs-and-sex-trafficking
Our media is fascist.
The majority of our media has been bought and/or cowed into complacency.
